curelocations Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 hi, just installed a phpbb3 forum using fantastico. all works fine, but a captcha picture doesn't appear on a new user registration page (it appears in admin panel in the captcha settings preview tough). i use default captcha settings. i read some forums and usually it's related to a host, not a forum settings. i only changed a style, but all other setting are standard anyway. Sorry. forum URL: http://www.guitaraid.co.uk/forum/ username: guitarai In meantime I was trying various options for Captcha (standard visual confirmation and GD CAPTCHA), but no luck so far. Quote
Bill Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Are you sure you've enabled Captcha? Because I went onto your register page. There was no Captcha box and no box into where you should enter the code into. Check your settings to see whether its enabled. Quote

kvhc128 Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Alternatively, you can use reCAPTCHA, which IMO, is better. Quote
curelocations Posted January 9, 2010 Author Posted January 9, 2010 I call PEBKAC. Please ask the phpbb forum. i doubt it's PEBKAC as this is a fresh installation via fantastico. will ask on that forum anyway, but usually they can't help unless i downloaded the installation package from their website. i'll try reCaptcha or disable it completely. i blocked guest posting and registration requires an email confirmation, so hopefully i won't get spam. thanks to all for suggestions.
