GameClaw_268 Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 Has anyone besides /\/\/\/ and I tried to make a video game? Do you have wonderful ideas for some? talk about it here. Also, I will make a lit of known free game developing tools, in order of best to worst. Free Gamemaking tools: Gamemaker(Unregistered) - http://www.gamemaker.nl RPG Toolkit - http://www.rpgtoolkit.com
/\/\/\/ Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 i thought you said the rpg toolkit was too buggy. oh well. most of my good ideas pretty much only work as a 3d game, but i'm not that good yet.
GameClaw_268 Posted March 3, 2005 Author Posted March 3, 2005 I put it up there cause I know it exists, but yeah, its a piece of crap.
lappy512 Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 I tried gamemaker, but it seems to simple and not complex, so i didn't like it. Most games featured were 2d, or not that great in 3d.
awesomegamer Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 i used to program some very nice and complicated games in gamemaker, but im trying to move on to better things. If anyone uses gamemaker and has trouble, let me know, im an expert, im sure to help or atleast get a general idea. I know everything about gamemaker!
GameClaw_268 Posted April 2, 2005 Author Posted April 2, 2005 I feel that way too, but most everything there is to know can be referenced from the guide or an algebra book, and I have pratically memorised both. What are you moving on to? C++? That would be the best, but its alot harder, as soon as I can figure out how to get a gfx engine running I'd be able to do it, but...
awesomegamer Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 yeh ive looked into C++ and ive talked with friends in my computer architecture class. My older bro was good with VisualBasic and Pascal so ill try a bit of everything and find my favorite flavor.
Kobra Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 I tried making a game with Game maker, but I failed miserably. So I just stick to writing the storylines and such and let my friends who know what they're doing design it. I've also tried using RPG Maker, but I lost hope after putting a good number of hours into making it, testing it and it was only two minutes.
Korps Commander Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Which game did you try making? Did it have a good plot?
Kyougi Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 I make games on GM too, but then I try too hard working on games and then get bored of them, and usually it's graphic issues.
GameClaw_268 Posted May 17, 2005 Author Posted May 17, 2005 I tried gamemaker, but it seems to simple and not complex, so i didn't like it. Most games featured were 2d, or not that great in 3d. 3d is pretty hard for a single person. The models and colisions can be a nightmare. 3d is sometimes used, but almost anyone who makes a 3d game "alone" used someone else's pre-made 3d system, unless they made that system, but those people are usually to busy to do games...
