millard Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 I recently signed up for a new account to host www.chaddiller.com which I already own. I changed my DNS to point to ns1.helionet.org and ns2.helionet.org. When I try to go to www.chaddiller.com it gets redirected to www.helionet.org. When I do a DNS check it appears to make it to your servers and then redirect me. If I try www.chaddiller.com/cpanel that works so I'm a little confused. If there's something I need to change in cpanel than I apologize but it's not very straight forward. Thanks.
Malmoth Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 (edited) When you log in to the cPanel, what do you see as the Main Domain?.. It should be the first info in the Stats colum, on the left. Is it chaddiller.com? Edited December 9, 2008 by Malmoth
millard Posted December 9, 2008 Author Posted December 9, 2008 Hmmmm...... well now it seems to be going to http://www.bluestonecoding.com/ which also appears to be hosted on helio. I hear there is a new server causing all these problems. I'm trying to be patient until things get resolved but I think some people might get irritated and switch hosts.

"I changed my DNS to point to ns1.helionet.org and ns2.helionet.org" DNS Check makes it to 65.19.143.4 before being redirected to http://helionet.org/index. My cPanel says the shared ip is 65.19.143.3. I don't think it's on my end.

My dns is set correctly to ns1.heliohost.org and ns2.heliohost.org however my problem still exists. Sorry for the confusion but my settings are correct and my problem is not resolved.
millard Posted December 27, 2008 Author Posted December 27, 2008 Anybody heard from the admin? It's been over two weeks and I can't resolve my problem. Everyone says this host is awesome so I don't want to go some place else but this support is terrible.

Your domain's current nameservers are: Name Servers: dns1.name-services.com dns2.name-services.com dns3.name-services.com dns4.name-services.com dns5.name-services.com Try to change them to ns1.heliohost.org and ns2.heliohost.org You should contact your domain's registrar if you can't change the nameservers.
millard Posted December 29, 2008 Author Posted December 29, 2008 Hmmmm..... I thought those were higher level DNS servers. I don't want my whole domain to be resolved by heliohost. My registrar allows me to specify different IPs and names for my third level domains and I figured if I put the heliohost DNS in it would resolve correctly. For example, I have an ftp sub domain that I want to go to a completely different server. My mail sub domain I want to go to ghs.google.com (google apps mail). Incidentally, I tried pointing the www domain to the IP that cpanel reports as my shared ip and this worked. I think I'll continue on with this approach unless someone has a better idea. So my problem was I was having my DNS resolve my www domain to ns1.heliohost.org instead of telling it to ask helihost's DNS to resolve it. I don't see any way to accomplish what I'm looking for through cPanel so I think I'll continue not using the heliohost DNS and just pointing my www sub domain to the server my account it hosted on. Thanks papukai for pointing out my error so I could realize what I was doing wrong. Sorry it took so long for me to smarten up.
