downtime?

Hi. I came to this site about a month or two ago, and was quite pleased with the services it offered, and began setting up my website here. A week went by, and all of a sudden I couldn't visit my site anymore. Helionet.org couldn't be reached, and heliohost.org was a hit-or-miss connect thing. So I began searching for a new host, thinking this was too good to have lasted.

 

Now come today, I check back here again, and everything is back to normal. My site is running just fine (though it took nearly a minute to load), and heliohost.org and helionet.org are working like before. What happened? Am I the only one that seemed to experience website downtime? If not, how long were these sites down? I would really like to know these things before I start digging back into developing my site here.

We had some hardware and software issues. It's rather complicated, but if you know what fsck is and what server load is I can give you a simplified explanation.
