Bass5098 Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Do you have the php smarty engine installed on the hosting server? I need to know as no other hosting company has seemed to install it and I dont feel like using google to find some hosting that supports it, but doesn't support mysql or any sql databases.

Are you saying you want php smart but no support for SQL or are you saying you want php smarty and SQL? If it's the prior, why would that matter?
mrdarc Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 It's obvious he wants smarty and the rest of the features. That's a good question. I've been wondering about smarty support too. Hope it's there.
Ashoat Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Doesn't look like it's there - I can't find it in phpinfo(). Here's an easy way to check - try to call a function from the smarty library and see if that works.
Bass5098 Posted July 16, 2008 Author Posted July 16, 2008 You don't have the engine installed, though you can download it from http;//smarty.net, but that requires root access to the server.

No, it's not obvious. He said, "I don't want to use google to find a host that supports it but doesn't support mysql or any other sql". That doesn't make sense. That's why I asked.

What I mean to say was, I need smarty and all of the features. Heliohost doesnt support smarty, so its off to find another host for that.
Ashoat Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Sorry I'll add Smarty to the wishlist for Stevie, our next server which comes online Thursday or Friday.
Trippin Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 I have the option to install it I think from within cPanel. At least I was able to install PEAR modules in there.
