Lilium Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 How big is the active community? I was wondering since I was planning on opening a game (a mafia game if anyone's familiar with it). The game needs a big set of players. So yeah, anyone know how big it is?
Sungazer Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 this is a roll call! reporting in! i like ur sig btw
phoexer Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 roll call? Might as well. present, well most of the time anyway.
Doctor Steel Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Ooh, a game of Mafia! It's been forever since I played. Wait, how do we have people "heads down" and the mafiosos kill people? IMs? I think we should do like Sky Tower Games did back in the glory days, and have "Who drinks teh water" puzzle contests.

Lilium Posted June 6, 2008 Author Posted June 6, 2008 A mafia game is simply a game of mafias and townies and maybe cults and masons. The game will undergo several day and night phases. Each day phase the townies and mafias vote on who to lynch. Now here's the twist, the townies do not know who the townies, mafia, cult or masons are. They only know that they themselves are townie. The mafia however knows who is mafia since they are a group, but they do not know who is mason/cult or town. Now the cult, is a non-mafia nor townie. It's a separate group that wins once the threats are eliminated, by threat I mean the town. The masons are non-mafia nor town, they are like mafia but they win with the town. They win when they kill all mafia, just like the townies. Now, how to kill? First lynching. Lynching is done through votation and the person who has been voted the most will be killed during the day phase. Night killings, during the night the mafia, cult or mason will send in night abilities which can either kill a person or know the person's side. More will be explained later when I write the roles. What is day and night phase? Day phase is the time of lynching and after achieving a lynch through votation, the moderator of the game will do a write up and write what happens. In the night phase, when the abilities are sent in, the moderator will also write up what happens. Also, in a mafia game, editing a post is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN. PS - Thanks for the compliment Sungazer.
Lilium Posted June 9, 2008 Author Posted June 9, 2008 How so? It's just a game of wits. There are hundreds of novels out there that would be more violent that this one and yet they're best sellers.
Sungazer Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 ive played it in a large group of live people i dont know how well it'd work online but it'd be fun to try out
Wizard Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 How so? It's just a game of wits. There are hundreds of novels out there that would be more violent that this one and yet they're best sellers. Novels you can't change. This just seems more violent than fun, but whatever. I'll give it a shot. We'll need a sub-mod, djbob can't be here all the time. I elect Doc Steel just because he's played this before.
Sungazer Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 im not sure there are really enough active people who are on all the time to make it all that interesting
Lilium Posted June 14, 2008 Author Posted June 14, 2008 Yeah, the forum's a bit inactive for a game like this. Makes me wonder, why is the community so small? This helions for domains system is quite interesting IMO.
Wizard Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 I dunno, I imagine years before, the place probably was huge. I wonder what happened.
Wizard Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 These forums were never huge. That's depressing. Don'tcha ever get lonely?
