Host A Terraria Server On Johnny

Greetings!

 

Does anyone here think it's possible to run a dedicated Terraria server on Johnny? Here's some of the info:

I currently host my dedicated Terraria server locally on a headless Ubuntu server, it'd be nice to run it somewhere remotely at no cost and to take the burden off of my home network.

 

The game is fairly basic and the client needs to have Terraria to play so it doesn't need much for resources.

 

If I'm vastly off base but you know of a decent place to host a Terraria server that's free or low cost, I'm open to any suggestions as well.

We don't support custom server software, so that's not gonna run here. Even if it did, the firewall would block it from being publicly accessible anyway. You're not gonna find many places where you can host it for free (except possibly a game host that might have a limited free plan).

 

A linux VPS with 4GB of RAM (probably even less would be fine) and decent disk space would do this easily, and I've seen them go for as little as ~$10/month.

Makes total sense. I had a feeling I was off base. A friend of mine had suggested Digital Ocean which I may look into. Thanks for your reply.
