nilayz Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 Just wondering whether people support DivX;-) or XviD....? Quote
lappy512 Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 divx has spyware, and i haven't seen much quality in divx. nvere heard of xvid, not WMA since that's a audio format, and not WMV in case that's what you meant, since WVM doesn't compress well. i sometimes use RealMedia, mostly for small videos, so i will vote for that. HerLoss Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 Ive used a couple different packages of divx and none of them had spyware on them. The program used to view divx is so much easier to use and faster than Windows Media Player or RealMedia, so I use divx everytime. Quote
GameClaw_268 Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 Meh, I never compress anything past .zip Quote
nilayz Posted April 4, 2005 Author Posted April 4, 2005 Yeah... I meant WMV.... Couldn't edit the options... Quote
majazac Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 I use both, but I prefer Dvix... Easier to use Quote
lappy512 Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 it says divx is spyware: http://www.nanomessiah.com/dvd-backup/divx-spyware.html Quote
HerLoss Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Thats only one package for converting to divx. Whip out your favorite filesharing program and youll find at least 5 completley different DivX compressors. I personally use WinMPG (legally free of course) Quote
nilayz Posted April 5, 2005 Author Posted April 5, 2005 I agree.... DivX installs quite a lot of adware alongwith it. Quote
praiseR Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 i dont use any because i dont compress movies!!!!! Quote
realityisterror Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 I don't compress anything myself... but for when I happen to.. uhh.. :cough: stumble across things on the internet... I tend to prefer XviD. I never really was totally pleased with the quality of DivX, but I guess it depends a lot on the compressor and not just the format... It seems the future is H.264 though Quote
