Leonz Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Hello there. I'm trying to install t phpBB3 on leonz.heliohost.org. Yes i am the owner and creator of the site. My problem is i get stuck about half way on the instruction located here: https://www.phpbb.com/community/docs/INSTALL.html#webserver_configuration. I get up to number 5. but from there on i can't seem to able to access the install tab or even connect to the right address. I am hopelessly confused and have been trying to figure this out for the past 5 hours. Any help would be appreciated. Sincerely Leonz
Shinryuu Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 phpBB is included in Softaculous, just use that to install it without the hassle. Version 3.0.11 even. 1
Krydos Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Here's a link to Johnny's softaculous menu http://johnny.heliohost.org:2082/frontend/x3/softaculous/index.live.php Step 5 looks to be upgrading from phpbb 2.0 versions to 3.0. Are you upgrading an old install or are you just installing a fresh copy? 1
Shinryuu Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 I think he means Using your web browser visit the location you placed phpBB3 with the addition of install/index.php or pointing directly to install/, e.g. http://www.mydomain.com/phpBB3/install/, http://www.mydomain.com/forum/install/ etc.Click the INSTALL tab, follow the steps and fill out all the requested information. in the quick install.
Krydos Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 I guess we've discovered the reason why it's standard practice to do steps with different numbering systems for sub steps like: 1. a. i. ii. iii. iv. 2. a. b. c. i. ii.
Shinryuu Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Lol, yeah, they kinda did that later on except they used 4. 4.i 4.ii 4.iii which seems more like the typist was having trouble keeping track of which instructions he was currently working on than anything else.
Leonz Posted December 8, 2012 Author Posted December 8, 2012 Thanks guys You are awesome, so glad that I know of this site. The support is always there, they are friendly and easy to understand. Cheers ~Leonz
