GamerGoddess Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 I made a question topic and set it to be followed so that I would be notified when it was replied to but I never recieved any e-mail notifications. I just logged in again today wondering why nobody had replied and found that 2 people had replied and I just hadn't found out about it. I believe this may be a bug in the forum set-up and wanted to let you know or be told what I am doing wrong to get the results I was wanting. 1
Krydos Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 This is a test of the email notification system. This is only a test. If this had been a real post it would have been followed by information.
craigis Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Check your notification settings http://www.helionet.org/index/index.php?app=core&module=usercp&tab=core&area=notifications I receive mine (I have it set to once daily) if people respond to topics.
GamerGoddess Posted November 10, 2012 Author Posted November 10, 2012 Testing did that fix it? Edit: Either that didn't fix it, immediate isn't very immediate, or it doesn't notify you of your own posts.... Probably the third one. Little help testing it?
Krydos Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Email notifications definitely work. x-store-info:J++/JTCzmObr++wNraA4Pa4f5Xd6uensgcv5hR2t8QAGDeHQ+vt/CgGExsbzVLHon2m4WZHo6xrrmRmCQT8KYa5MLlpp7faib18hhrDS7xJ061wJdXIyIraO1iGj124mzAJ/ns+vUSmaYb2wvK9YPQ== Authentication-Results: hotmail.com; sender-id=none (sender IP is 64.62.211.132) header.from=admin@helionet.org; dkim=none header.d=helionet.org; x-hmca=none X-SID-PRA: admin@helionet.org X-DKIM-Result: None X-SID-Result: None X-AUTH-Result: NONE X-Message-Status: n:n X-Message-Delivery: Vj0xLjE7dXM9MDtsPTE7YT0wO0Q9MTtHRD0xO1NDTD0w X-Message-Info: aKlYzGSc+LntszwVaofz5zBFfbeUID1i1YZdLQWQhimG+BebLhCy0pAFWZ9qsyCnFeKENoTJpexYPA4jfRD9978tKcH1VxETy8hW1HU0cgJTZshsoBv1QqPZuJhsE1fsugHSOSWy/KQ41VFhZpekIQ== Received: from cody.heliohost.org ([64.62.211.132]) by COL0-MC1-F17.Col0.hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.4900); Fri, 9 Nov 2012 18:47:59 -0800 Received: from apache by cody.heliohost.org with local (Exim 4.80) (envelope-from <apache@cody.heliohost.org>) id 1TX170-0003jT-QW for [REDACTED]; Fri, 09 Nov 2012 18:47:58 -0800 To: [REDACTED] Subject: craigis replied to Followed Topic Does Not E-Mail Updates X-PHP-Script: www.helionet.org/index/index.php for 122.60.132.11 MIME-Version: 1.0 Date: Sat, 10 Nov 2012 02:47:58 +0000 X-Priority: 3 X-Mailer: IPS PHP Mailer Message-ID: <a31ecfb96f0ed916e76467afee418d99@www.helionet.org> From: "HelioNet" <admin@helionet.org> Content-type: text/plain; charset="ISO-8859-1" X-AntiAbuse: This header was added to track abuse, please include it with any abuse report X-AntiAbuse: Primary Hostname - cody.heliohost.org X-AntiAbuse: Original Domain - hotmail.com X-AntiAbuse: Originator/Caller UID/GID - [48 48] / [47 12] X-AntiAbuse: Sender Address Domain - cody.heliohost.org Return-Path: apache@cody.heliohost.org X-OriginalArrivalTime: 10 Nov 2012 02:47:59.0703 (UTC) FILETIME=[CBA99E70:01CDBEED] Krydos, craigis has just posted a reply to a topic that you have subscribed to titled "Followed Topic Does Not E-Mail Updates". ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Check your notification settings http://www.helionet....a=notifications (http://www.helionet....a=notifications) I receive mine (I have it set to once daily) if people respond to topics. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The topic can be found here: http://www.helionet....updates/unread/ If you have configured in your control panel to receive immediate topic reply notifications, you may receive an email for each reply made to this topic. Otherwise, only 1 email is sent per board visit for each subscribed topic. This is to limit the amount of mail that is sent to your inbox. Unsubscribing: -------------- You can unsubscribe at any time here: http://www.helionet....90bWFpbC5jb20,/ The emails come from admin@heliohost.org if that helps. You might want to check your spam folder, or add an exception to admin@heliohost.org to make sure it delivers to your inbox. I've never experienced it myself but people have told us that sometimes their email service doesn't even put our emails into their spam folder, but just deletes them without any chance to see them at all. If that is the case for you it might help to try changing your helionet email address to something else to see if the emails get delivered. Also, if you're trying to test it, you won't get notifications for your own posts.
GamerGoddess Posted November 10, 2012 Author Posted November 10, 2012 I didn't recieve anything using an email adress from my Heliohost site, I just switched it to use one of my yahoo accounts can someone make a test post please?
Krydos Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Test post schmest post. We don't need no stinkin' test posts around here.
GamerGoddess Posted November 10, 2012 Author Posted November 10, 2012 I give up I'll just have to keep the thread in an app tab if I want to keep track of new posts.
