snehas Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Hi, It's just been an hour I purchased godaddy .com domain . now i am trying to link it to heliohost website of mine. I went to the godaddy account settings and in domain section, i put ns1.heliohost.orgns2.heliohost.org In cpanel, i tried to change parking to mywebsitename.com but it gives me the below error: Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server. Please transfer the domain to this servers nameservers or have your administrator add one of its nameservers to /etc/ips.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver.
Ice IT Support Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 DNS changes require 24 hours to take affect. Wait 24 hours and try again. 1
Vertrex Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 It doesn't always take 24 hours. Mine was done in 8 hours. 1
anush Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 It depends on your Registrant, your ISP's TTL for DNS record etc, the normal time is 2min - 72 hours but it doesn't usually take that long. 1
snehas Posted August 24, 2012 Author Posted August 24, 2012 Thanks everyone for your replies. So finally my godaddy account updated the server names to ns1.heliohost.organd ns2.heliohost.org now the problem is, i went to cpanel in heliohost and in parked domain, i updated it to my own .com website namewhen i actually type in the ".com" website name in the address bar of the browser, I see they say my account is queued and 24 hours they will take and all. But that's the message that's shown the first time you create any account with heliohost. When I type my heliohost account address, it works fine and shows the content I have in my website as it should. Then why when I point my .com site to this one and make all other settings like it should be done, does it not show me my website but gives me this display message : HelioHost Account Queued Ahoy! You're seeing this page because HelioHost has not gotten about to installing and configuring your account yet. This process usually takes 24 hours, and once it is complete your website should show up properly. While the account is being created we suggest taking a look at your control panelThanks for choosing HelioHost! We wish you good luck with your website.Sincerely, The HelioHost Staff
Ice IT Support Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 The account queued page is displayed on all new domains and subdomains, not just new accounts. It will eventually clear.
snehas Posted August 24, 2012 Author Posted August 24, 2012 But I didn't create a new domain! It was already there. I could see the heliohost website of mine. Only now that I bought godaddy and am directing it to heliohost's site, it shows account queued! why?
anush Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 New accounts and domains are added only when the server load is minimum, to prevent down times. When you make an account or add a new domain its queued not added, the script calculates the lowes load in 24 hour period and then runs the jobs, that is why the time for activation is 24 hours.
snehas Posted August 24, 2012 Author Posted August 24, 2012 ok, so I think you all are misunderstanding the situation. Thing is that, I has my site up and running, but that was sitename.heliohost.orgNow I purchase godaddy sitename.com and I change servers to ns1.heliohost.org and ns2.heliohost.org , and it successfully shows the changed servers .Also, in cpanel in heliohost, I added my sitename.com to the parked domain When sitename.heliohost.org worked completely fine earlier, and it still does work fine now, if I type that in the address bar, but when I type sitename.com, ideally it should get directed to sitename.heliohost.org without ofcourse showing the heliohost address in the address bar, but I see the account queued page. Hope it's clear now. And I thank you all for your helpful replies! Please enlighten! Will my sitename.com show me the display that sitename.heliohost.org is showing me, after all these settings ? Parking was done successfully and domain pointing from godaddy to heliohost server was done successfully too!I don't get the queue thing.
Ice IT Support Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Like anush said, the queuing helps to prevent high load on our servers. Yes, the queued message will go away after some time. Usually 24 hours after parking your domain in cPanel.
