Tokra Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 When trying to open a database connection to one of my databases I get the following error. [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]Access denied for user '[user Name]'@'76-248-92-62.lightspeed.bcvloh.sbcglobal.net' (using password: YES) Here is the connection string (redacted for security)DRIVER=MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver;SERVER=stevie.heliohost.org;UID=[userName];PWD=[Password];DATABASE=[DataBase Name] In CPanel I did create the user and asigne it full privs to the DB. I've read in another post the CPanel is not properly asigning the rights to users, and in that post the issue was not resolved because the user was moving the database anyway.
Tokra Posted December 2, 2011 Author Posted December 2, 2011 That did not help. I had already looked over the entire provided Wiki.
Byron Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 If you are connecting locally, then your 'host' or 'server' is 'localhost'. Your database name is the name you specified, but prefixed with your cPanel username and then an underscore (ex. CPANEL_DATABASE).
Tokra Posted December 2, 2011 Author Posted December 2, 2011 I appreciate the help but I can get to the server and database fine it's just the username does not have rights to the table. Even after I assigned it rights in CPanel
Guest xaav Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Did you follow the steps for "connecting remotely?"
Krydos Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Glad your problem got solved! Please spare a few minutes to take our brief survey: http://feedback.heliohost.org/ Your participation in this survey is greatly appreciated.
Guest xaav Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 @Krydos please only close topics within the "HelioHost" category.
Krydos Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 My bad, didn't realize that posting the survey here would close it; it's not like I wrote the multi-moderation. Ok, I have edited the multi-moderations so the customer service type forums have a multi-moderation called 'Problem Solved' that closes the topics, and the rest of the forums have a multi-moderation called 'Question Answered' that leaves them open. Good? Good.
