  1. Thanks! My friend seems like he's already working on the group website so it seems like I could leave it to him now. Currently I only access FTP on that account, to put info about our IRC Channel.
  2. I don't know where you bought your domain so I'll give instructions for Freenom (provides .tk, .cf, .ml and .ga) and CU.CC (provides .cu.cc), which seems the two most popular free domain provider: For Freenom: Login at http://www.freenom.com (there is a Login My Freenom in the upper right) In the menu (below the "freenom" logo), click Domain Panel Select "Modify" in the right of the domain you registered and you want to use There are three options, click the last one which is Custom DNS In "Host Name" column, put "ns1.heliohost.org" (without the quotes!). Leave "IP Address" column empty. Click "Add New" In the new row, in "Host Name" column, put "ns2.heliohost.org" (without the quotes!). Leave "IP Address" column empty. Click "Save Changes" button It should be the same if you directly registered in http://my.dot.tk, http://www.point.ml, http://www.my.cf or http://www.my.ga instead of in Freenom which merges all four ccTLDs they offer. For CU.CC: Go to http://www.registry.cu.cc/index.php then login on your account A list wil show up saying "Your account highlights:". Click "Registered Domains: 1" below it (the number depends on how many domains you registered) On the row of the domain you want to use and in the "Manage" column, click the pencil icon In the options that will show up, click "Nameserver" Put "ns1.heliohost.org" (without the quotes!) into the first text box Put "ns2.heliohost.org" (without the quotes!) into the second text box Click "Update" button That's basically what http://www.heliohost.org/home/features/domains says. After you do one of the above (or something similar if you don't use Freenom nor CU.CC), you have to fix HelioHost's side: Go to http://www.heliohost.org/home/support/scripts/domain Put your username, password, and desired domain to the text boxes, in that same order Click "Change domain" After a few hours, a page that says "HelioHost Account Queued" will probably show up when you try to access your domain. After about 24 hours, it should successfully show the pages of your website. Make sure to clear your cache before reloading the page. By the way, I'm not a professional webmaster either
  3. Use this script to change domain: http://www.heliohost.org/home/support/scripts/domain Make sure you have properly set up your domain to point to HelioHost's nameservers: http://www.heliohost.org/home/features/domains
  4. I suggest you move on a different domain provider because: uni.me doesn't seem to be indexed by Google. Go to https://www.google.com.ph/search?q=site:uni.me and you'll see that there are no search results. Seems like two weeks ago, uni.me stopped providing free domains: http://www.getfreedomain.name/domain/uni.me#comment-3022041 Their main site, http://uni.me, is currently down. Domains are automatically deleted after 10 days without traffic. There are lots of other free domain providers out there, there is a good list at http://www.getfreedomain.name. I suggest you use a .tk (which is what HelioHost recommends: http://www.heliohost.org/home/features/domains), .ml, .cf or .ga domain name, which are free, real TLDs, but requires your site to have at least 25 visits per 90 days. You could register them at http://www.freenom.com. There is an existing topic about this in HelioNet.org, at http://www.helionet.org/index/topic/10478-list-of-free-domain-providers/. There are more info there on how to find free domain providers. And if you could pay for it, buying your own domain is probably the best option
  5. Checked http://www.getfreedomain.name/domain/uni.me and saw that: Special Conditions: Domains are automatically deleted after 10 days without traffic. That's probably the reason.
  6. Ah, you are asking if you could have two accounts? I thought you want them to be deleted: If you would like to ask to have two accounts on separate servers, you have to wait for a moderator to give you approval, I'm just a member too so I can't do that for you. There's probably no need to delete them if you just want to ask for permission to have those two accounts
  7. You shouldn't post your password for security reasons. Also, you could do those two things you request, manually: Changing your domain: http://www.heliohost.org/home/support/scripts/domain Deleting your account: http://www.heliohost.org/home/support/scripts/delete
  8. I only found out today that the .ga domain name is also free, other sites are not saying anything about it. The provider is the same as the one that provides .tk, .ml and .cf domains, so they probably offer the same service. You could register all .tk, .ml, .cf and .ga domains at http://www.freenom.com instead of visiting http://my.dot.tk, http://www.point.ml, http://www.my.cf and http://www.my.ga so that all of your domains are in a single account (each one has their own login page otherwise, though they are all under the same company )
  9. According to http://wiki.helionet.org/Moving_your_account, you have to wait about 48 hours, but when I did it to move from Johnny to Stevie, it took more or less 24 hours (when I tried creating it after 8 hours, it fails, then after that the signup limit was already exceeded so I have to wait about 24 hours after deletion).
  10. Hi, First of all, thanks for providing the good service you give to us users for free. I haven't seen any other free hosting provider as good as yours. And I'm very sorry for being in the current situation of having two accounts, which I would like to describe in detail below. And sorry if you have to read a very long post! When I first saw the services offered by HelioHost, I immediately signed up for a free account on Johnny (I tried Stevie but the signup page said that the signup limit is already exceeded, then saw Johnny it's available, so I choose Johnny). I'm planning to move my blog in http://kyoushuu.wordpress.com into this new host and do a lot of other things related to my work. But after reading some pages on the Wiki, I saw that it is recommended to use Stevie unless there is a reason not to, so I chose Stevie which is much stable and don't have features I probably won't need. I deleted my account and decided to create a new one tomorrow when the account is completely deleted. Then after a few hours signing up, my friend asked me to find a new host for the website he is building for our Facebook group. Since he only has experience signing up on a hosting service, he only have experience with Wix (where the old site currently resides), he asked me to sign up here (which I recommended). I waited for the signup limit reset then created an account for our group in Stevie. Then created my account again on Stevie while at work. Now, my problem is that I can not access my own account at home, otherwise the system might notice this and declare the two accounts as multiple accounts. After looking into several pages at the wiki, I saw that this is automatic and after reading some forum posts here, I found out that I have to either have the accounts on two separate servers, or request immunity to the multi-account detection systems as stated http://www.heliohost...accounts-policy. My personal account is "kyoushuu" and the group's account is "otakubyt". I don't want to move any accounts to different servers because, first of all, they are not really supposed to be mine only. Another reason is that I don't need to use the additional features (at least for the time being) and I would like to have stable server for my site and our group's site. Combining the two seems not a good option either - I cannot have the group's site as subdomain in my account because I have to give them my password to be able to access Softaculous and other features of CPanel. Also, other admins of the group are going to create their own e-mail accounts, and they would be able to see the mails that are sent into mine. I can't do the reverse either - it would be problematic if my friends would be able to access the files related to my work and other personal things I'm planning to have on it. If I only give them FTP access, they can't access CPanel - I have to do what they want to do on Softaculous and other features while playing around and that would be troublesome to me . In short, it is mainly a privacy issue and loss of access to important features if they only have FTP access. Another issue is the disk space. The group is for Filipino anime fans, so I'm expecting to have several images in the website because it would be an anime recommendation site. The current site has lots of images and would probably use up hundreds of megabytes. It will also have a database, eating more disk space. As for my own account, I probably have to store lots of files too which are data from seismometers because of work, and other future projects. Plus other files for my personal site, and I'm going to use databases too. It will also be a problem if we access the CPanel of the two accounts at school. We already have problems with same IP Address because of this before, so it will probably cause a suspension of the two accounts. I have to help out too in the creation of the group's website (which we will probably have to edit at school since we have more than 8 admins, all have knowledge on building websites, plus I have to access it at home), but I also have to access my account at school too where I spend much of my time working on things related to my part-time job. Therefore, I'm requesting the accounts "kyoushuu" and "otakubyt" to be immune to the multi-account detection systems. I know that this post became very long (it looks like a mail now instead of a forum thread ), but I really want to have the two accounts separate and both in Stevie, so I tried to completely show the reason for these. Actually, I would like to say more but this is already very long . Thanks for spending time reading this. I hope for your kind consideration.
