  4. Username: N/A, Server: N/A, Main Domain: N/A My account ( andrew3 ) was disabled due to inactivity, however it was YOUR server that was down for several days causing the inactivity. I log in at least every other day unless I'm exceptionally busy but even then I still log in frequently. You recently had problems with the server and I was unable to log in for almost a week, then was very busy with work and had not checked for a few days, but now that I have it shows disabled which is a load of crap if you ask me. You should have extended everyone's time since it was YOUR server that was down and wouldn't allow us to log in. Please reactivate this account, Info is provided below. Linked domains are abbra.us, abbracomputer.com, abbracomputer.net username: andrew3 email: andrew@abbcom.co If you need any more info please reply to this email, I'm not using the andrew@abbcom.co any longer.
  5. Username: N/A, Server: N/A, Main Domain: N/A Hi, My account (marshals) has been taken offline due to inactivity, but for the last days I couldn't log in due to a rebuild of Tommy. Is it possible to put my account online again? Thanks for your help, Heloise
  6. Username: N/A, Server: N/A, Main Domain: N/A Hello, I was inactive for a while, but I wish to use this wonderful service for a long time now. I would like to be unarchived. 7. Username: N/A, Server: N/A, Main Domain: N/A Hi. Could you advise me on how to proceed, my site http://firemachine.nl.eu.org/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi has a default sorry message. I have downloaded the backup but I don't really want to set up a temporary site on the Ricky server right now And would prefer to wait until Tommy is ready to host again. I had 1gb space on Tommy server and had used a little more than the 500mb normally allocated after a donation on the 23 December 2016. My Pay pal transaction number is : 78F926685M1394946

  10. Username: aclab, Server: Tommy, Main domain: aclab.heliohost.org Hallo, tommy is down for some time, and i need a server, can you send me send me another invit so i can create a accout to a ,,premium" host like tommy?
  11. Username: zacharyw, Server: Tommy, Main domain: zmwilliams.com Hi. This is not urgent. Donors with a transaction ID affected by Tommy's downtime can get a temporary account on Ricky if I read things correctly. My last donation's transaction ID from PayPal is 78V56936VG6131122 email, same as this one: zachary.matthew@gmail.com I actually don't mind not getting domain email (zmwilliams.com). I fumbled through and managed to successfully get my DNS settings correct in cPanel when I donated to get an account on Tommy (moving from InMotion). What's the status of DNS records that were created as such? Again, having the temporary account is not urgent right now but would be helpful. Thanks for everything! -Zach P.S. I am interested in the potential of volunteering for Heliohost. I have some background in web servers, scripting, and customer service. I'm wondering if you could put me in touch with someone who coordinates volunteerism for your non-profit.
  12. Username: N/A, Server: N/A, Main Domain: N/A Hi, I can't seem to login to the forum. It says my password is incorrect. I would also like to request a server change from Johnny to Tommy. I have just made a modest PayPal donation: 4XX20871S79470830 (I'd love to support you further when my financial situation improves) Thanks, Jonah

  17. The scheduled maintenance on Eddie is now complete and everything should be coming back online.
  18. We will be performing scheduled maintenance on Eddie tomorrow. This will result in downtime on our main website, heliohost.org, our forums, helionet.org, and our wiki, wiki.helionet.org. This will also result in downtime on any VPS that are located on Eddie. When the maintenance begins we will cleanly shutdown all online VPS using the vmware-tools that all HelioVPS start out with. We will be removing the dead hard drive, and replacing it with a brand new drive which will allow us to rebuild the Tommy server to be faster and even better uptime than before. After the maintenance is complete we will boot up all of the active VPS, but we recommend taking a look at your server to make sure everything booted up properly.

  20. Tommy backups are now available via https://www.heliohost.org/backup/ We backed up the home directories and mysql databases so far. We're still working on postgresql databases, but very few people use it so the backups are ready for the majority of people. If the backup system doesn't work for you post in customer service, and an admin can help you. If anything is missing from your backup please let us know as soon as possible. We plan on wiping Tommy and installing the new hard drive on August 20th, so you only have four days to figure out if anything is missing. If you let us know that something is missing before we wipe Tommy there is a chance we can find it and back it up for you, but after August 20th it will be gone forever.

  23. Username: N/A, Server: N/A, Main Domain: N/A (It's very urgent, please transfer this email to your CEO. Thanks) This is a formal email. We are the Domain Registration Service company in China. Here I have something to confirm with you. On August 12, 2019, we received an application from Kaiqing Ltd requested "helionet" as their internet keyword and China (CN) domain names (helionet.cn, helionet.com.cn, helionet.net.cn, helionet.org.cn). But after checking it, we find this name conflict with your company name or trademark. In order to deal with this matter better, it's necessary to send email to you and confirm whether this company is your distributor or business partner in China? 25. What are we doing? We're still working on creating backups. It's taking longer than we expected. What did we lose? As far as we can tell at this point no data will be lost. Right now we're backing up the home directories, and archived accounts. As is the case in most crashes, the mysql innodb databases have a very poor chance of being recovered, but we're going to do our best to try to back them up as well. We always recommend people use myisam, and we have it set as default, for this very reason. Innodb data pretty much always gets lost during a crash. The mysql myisam databases are for sure intact. Postgresql databases have been backed up, but it's too early to tell if anything was lost. We'll make a news post when the backups are available for download. What should you do? It's going to be a while before we can get Tommy back online, and when we do it's going to be a fresh server with no accounts on it. This means you should probably create a temporary account on Johnny or Ricky in the meantime, and once Tommy is rebuilt you can have your account moved back onto Tommy. As far as your domains go it's probably safest to just make sure your account is created, and then we can straighten out the domains later. If you need a domain freed up that was hosted on Tommy just make a post on the forums requesting it. Once the backups are available we'll let you know via a news post and you can download them and restore them on to your temporary account. What happens next? We have ordered a new hard drive for Tommy, and Ashoat (the founder of HelioHost) is going to be at our datacenter in silicon valley next Tuesday the 20th. While he's there he's going to install Sparkie in our cabinet, and replace the dead hard drive from Eddie, which will allow us to rebuild Tommy. How long until Tommy is back? We don't have a set date, but getting Tommy back online is our top priority. As long as everything goes as planned, the new hard drive will be installed on August 20th, and it will take a few days after that to set everything up and test the new server. Tommy should be back, with better uptime, even faster, and better than ever before by September 1st. Maybe sooner. What happened? One of Eddie's hard drives that held critical system files for Tommy died, but luckily it wasn't the hard drives that held the home directories or databases. Since it was operating system files that were lost it means that Tommy won't boot or connect to the internet or run any programs or do much of anything right now, but we are trying to back everything up. Why did this happen? It's no secret that we're very short on cash. This is why we have a fundraiser going. We push everything as far as it's possible to go. That means pushing old hardware as long as it can go, pushing cpanel to handle more accounts than even the creators of cpanel ever expected, and unfortunately pushing old hard drives much longer than is reasonable. Will this happen to Tommy again? Probably not. The hard drive that failed is about 10 years old, and has been running constantly since we bought the server. We're replacing it with a brand-new, fresh-from-the-factory, never-been-used hard drive. We understand that this is a very confusing time, and you all have a lot of questions. Hopefully this answered some of the common ones, but if you have other questions please ask away. Thanks for your patience.
