  1. So sorry. I didn't get what were saying Strange!! as it appears, they have a developed an advanced open source application which can not be easily used. Most of the websites don't have shell access to install or this kind of stuffs. Anyway, Thank you and pardon me for bothering you. I thought i can test Mapserver in CGI mode but i was wrong.
  2. Thanks a lot. In fact, i didn't want to compile mapserver from scratch. a folk told me you can get binary version of mapserver out of rpm packages using 7zip. but extractring rpm and copying mapserv file to cgi-bin doesn't solve the problem. (I think at least without its dependencies it should display a meaningful error, not 500 error) Anyway, i followed link provided by Support Admin. i can't understand this line: [ You’ll want to setup a symlink to that executable from your cgi-bin directory: # ln -s /usr/local/bin/mapserv /usr/lib/cgi-bin/mapserv ] Could u tell me how it would be performed, please? Regards
  3. Hi guys. I'm gonna use Mapserver which is provided in this link: http://mapserver.org/download.html first of all, i don't know which binary of mapserver for linux i should use. Second, i didn't understand what this link says: http://wiki.helionet.org/C%2B%2B/C_as_CGI It sounds some kind of configurations should be done, but i don't know how. I'm so sorry. I've been using windows all the time, so i'm not familiar with linux and its words. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best Regards
  4. Thanks alot the problem was with encoding, exactly EOL char. It was in windows format. Changing that to Unix solved everything. Thanks again
  5. Thanks a world, guys for your comments. Sorry for a bit latency (i thought it may take more time to get a response here. ) Anyway, I haven't opened phpMyAdmin yet. I tried running cgi with closed cPanel but no help. I checked permissions and they were both 755. finally, I tried replacing second line with the line suggested by Support Admin but again no help. So, problem is still unresolved for me. Am i right with address, i.e. http://gistech.heliohost.org/cgi-bin/demo1.cgi Regards
  6. Hi all. I've recently got a free account from Heliosoft. Now, i'm unable to run even a simple cgi. Is cgi active by default? I've put a simple demo.cgi in cgi-bin with following code: #!/usr/bin/perl print "Content-type: text/html\n\n"; print <<HTML; <html> <head> <title>A Simple Perl CGI</title> </head> <body> <h1>A Simple Perl CGI</h1> <p>Hello World</p> </body> HTML exit; Then, i've changed file permission to 755 (even 777) but i get following error all times: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@gistech.heliohost.org and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Any idea of what's wrong here? Thanks in advance.
