I see an empty directory listing, which means the domain is configured properly. Did you upload files into the public_html folder?
The park/alias function automatically points your domain to public_html, so if you put your files elsewhere, you'll need to move them.
Thank you for replying. I moved all the files to the public_html folder, and now my home page is black (and blank). If you highlight the blank page, there is some text that becomes visible, but it's undecipherable to me. I did notice that in the public_html folder, there is a cgi-bin folder that is empty. Is that potentially my problem?

That domain is still being hosted on Stevie, which is offline. What you need to do is go to https://tommy.heliohost.org:2083/frontend/paper_lantern/park/index.html and park greenvalleyrecording.com. Once you do that it should start working in 30 minutes or less.I'm guessing my URL isn't pointing to the correct spot, put I don't know how to fix it. Can you please help me? My URL is www.greenvalleyrecording.com and it used to go to my Stevie greenvalley.heliohost.org web site. What should I do to make this work again? Thank you.
I clicked on the "park link" you provided and was taken to a cPanel "Alias" assignment page. I created an alias for www.greenvalleyrecording.com and saved it. Now, a half hour later when I put www.greenvalleyrecording.com in a browser address bar, I get a page that simply says "Index of/" with some other empty headings. Please try that URL and you'll see what I mean. It must have something to do with the fact that my new user name is different from what it was on Stevie and the directory structure in the cPanel file is different. I'm really over my head here and am appealing to you for help. Thank you for your time.
By the way, in my ftp program, this is what is set as my "Initial Remote Host Directory": /home1/richard/public_html/greenvalleyrecording.com
Is that correct, and if not, what should it be? (It appears that in cPanel File Manager that the root directory is /home/gvr590. All my files are correctly listed there... so why is the website not showing up in a browser? Thanks.

It's because the account creation software changed to now create a forum account with the same name during sign up. If the forum account fails to create due to it already existing, the hosting account also fails to create.
It was a change that was implemented with the release of our new website.
Okay, I logged on to Tommy with my new username gvr590 and new password and uploaded from my ftp program all my files. But I can't get into the to site. I'm really not technical enough to know what's wrong... I'm guessing my URL isn't pointing to the correct spot, put I don't know how to fix it. Can you please help me? Well, the problem with that username is it was taken by a user that's not you on the forum years ago. It would be kind of rude to change some random person's username for this. Can't you just use a different username?
Yes I can, but I had richard as my user name since I first signed on with my website (I'm not referring to my forum name; but rather my web user sign-in name). I'm surprised that I wouldn't continue to have access to the same name as when I was on Stevie.

The domain greenvalleyrecording.heliohost.org and that email address are now available to create a new account. Let us know if you need help with anything else.
Thank you. I found that my old username "richard" is now not available. Can that be made available again, or should I use a new one?

If you create an account on Tommy by clicking the link in your invitation email your website will probably be available for people to access in about 30 minutes or less.Sorry to be a pain, but I am obviously concerned about people not having access to my website.
That's GREAT. Thanks. I'm moving http://greenvalleyrecording.heliohost.org/?9096 and e-mail address richard@greenvalleyrecording.com to Tommy.
-
Okay, thanks for replying... and you probably can't answer this specifically, but do you have a rough estimate as to what "it probably won't be long" means? A day... two days, a week?
Sorry to be a pain, but I am obviously concerned about people not having access to my website.
Thanks again.

I too received an invitation to Tommy, but the e-mail message says "We are only inviting a few people to help beta test the server before it goes live." So my question is: when will Tommy go live? My goal is (obviously) to get my website back up ASAP.
Thank you.

Hi,
If I move my website that's currently on Stevie over to Johnny, will it automatically be placed back on Stevie after he's repaired, or would I be advised to leave the site on Johnny?
Thank you.
No. You'll need to post back to have it changed to Stevie again.
Sorry to be dense... but am I to understand that I can't just move my site to Johnny and leave it there?
Thanks for your time.

Yes, using that link keeps your site from getting suspended. The reason we always recommend logging in from the homepage instead of using that link is because that link only works for people whose accounts are on stevie. The homepage works for both johnny accounts and stevie accounts (except for the accounts that got corrupted recently on stevie.)
Great... thank you for answering.
-
I don't mind at all using the http://stevie.heliohost.org:2082/ link, so long as my site is not suspended.
username: richard
server: Stevie
site address: greenvalleyrecording.heliohost.org
Can I be confident that I will not be suspended if I don't log in through the home page?
Thank you.

I have been unable to access C panel from the home page for days. Please don't delete my account.
I also can't get into my mail program (Horde). I get a message saying I've entered the incorrect user name and password.
greenvalleyrecording.helios.org
My site is on Stevie.
Thanks,
Richard
EDIT: I was just able to get into my mail. But still unable to access CPanel through HelioHost.org sign-in at bottom of page.

You got 'er fixed... thanks!

Hi,
I'm getting the "Account Queued" message as well. I'm on Stevie. I've been regularly logging in to cPanel through the home page to insure this does not happen (it happened to me before because I was going directly to cPanel rather than through the home page).
Please look into this. Thank you.

This may be the wrong forum for this (I couldn't find one for "thank you's").
I just wanted to say that I appreciate the web space and service you provide, as well as the tech support.
I've had some "rough spots" with my account being queued for several days two different times in under two months, but it's working great now... very fast.
That's all... just simple appreciation.

Hi,
My site was working perfectly for a month since its initiation, and I thought I was doing everything correctly by logging into my cPanel (actually several times during the month). Then I got a message saying my account has been suspended due to inactivity (for NOT logging into cPanel). I was given a link to reactivate my account, which I did.
I posted here asking why I was suspended when I had in fact been logging into my cPanel and was told I should log into the cPanel though the Home Page.
So, I've been doing that and now my site comes up as "queued and the process takes 24 hours". That notice has been up for three days.
Is there something else I should be doing? I really hate having my site down.
www.greenvalleyrecording.com is my address.
Thank you,
Richard
-
No - that URL doesn't record when you login. This is why you were suspended - because there was no record that you logged in.
We recommend you login via the HelioHost homepage.
Okay I see now-- down near the bottom of the page.
Thanks again!

We are currently trying to suspend and terminate as many inactive accounts as possible. This can put pressure on the server, meaning that cPanel will be likely to stop working and 500 errors will start popping up.
Make sure you're logging in through the heliohost.org homepage - this is the best way to login.
Hopefully these problems will discontinue when we have terminated as many accounts as we can and when we open up Charlie for signups.
Thank you for your quick reply.
I am using this address to access cPanel... is this the correct way?

TIA,
Richard

Hi,
I've logged into my cPanel several times this month. But I still received this message today:
Dear richard,
Your hosting account at HelioHost has been suspended as a result of account inactivity. If you want to keep your account, please renew it by visiting http://www.heliohost.org/scripts/renew.php?username=richard. If you do not renew your hosting suscription within a week, your account will be permanently deleted. This is your final warning.
Regards,
HelioHost Staff
What's happening?
Also... logging in to cPanel often seems to get hung up and must be stopped and refreshed... I'm on a tier 2 DSL line....
Thank you.

It appears that your domain is active. If you aren't seeing your site, refresh your browser's cache.
Thank you VERY much Geoff (and Wizard). I think I'm good to go, now!
-
There is really no way to tell if you have done things right until your site becomes active, but it appears to me that you have taken all of the right steps.
Thank you for checking Geoff. I'll relax until tomorrow evening then.
-
You need to wait 24 hours for apache to restart. Your domain will then become active.
Thank you Geoff. I hope you're confirming that I've done everything correctly as well.

You should remove the redirection, the nameservers are all you need. You also need to add "greenvalleyrecording.com" as an Add-on domain on cPanel. This will create a folder called "greenvalleyrecording.com" and you should move everything from the folder "richardgvr" to that folder in order to see it when you go to www.greenvalleyrecording.com.
However, with this, you will no longer see your website at http://greenvalleyrecording.heliohost.org/richardgvr/.
A more advanced method is creating a syslink from richardgvr to the folder greenvalleyrecording.com. With that, you could keep http://greenvalleyrecording.heliohost.org/richardgvr/.
Thank you again for your timely reply Wizard! By now you're very aware that I'm really a babe in the woods with website vernacular and process. So... would it be EASY for you to explain the sylink option (hopefullly step by step)? If not, I'll take your first suggestion.
Further... how do I "move" the contents of the "richardgvr" folder to the "greenvalleyrecording.com" folder?
TIA
Richard
You can use a FTP client or the file manager in cPanel in order to move files from one directory (folder) to another.
I can't tell you exactly how to do it, as I've never had to do it before and I don't have time to work out everything right now.
I did a quick search and here are some posts you should look at if you feel like trying this for yourself:
http://www.helionet.org/index/index.php?sh...ic=6420&hl=
Some PHP knowledge is required.
Okay, Wizard, I will read the link. However, PHP is not in my toolbox. Thanks.

Wizard...
I added greenvalleyrecording.com as an add-on domain which did create a greenvalleyrecording.com folder.
I successfully copied (not moved) the files from my "richardgvr" folder to my newly created greenvalleyrecording.com folder in cpanel.
I disabled the redirect at godaddy. The nameservers are still correct on godaddy.
I can still see my site online at http://greenvalleyrecording.heliohost.org/richardgvr/, but www.greenvalleyrecording.com just brings up the "HELIOHOST ACCOUNT QUEUED" message. Does this just mean I have to be patient and wait, or is there something I still don't have right?
Thanks again.
Richard
PS: I did try moving the files from richardgvr to greenvalleyrecording.com, but that didn't bring up the site with www.greenvalleyrecording.com either.
