  1. No. You're supposed to set the name servers on the domain at your registrar, then you go into cPanel and add the domain under aliases (if it should show the same content as the main domain) or add on domains (if different content from main domain). Then you wait 2 hours and it works.

The bad news is that Johnny is down yet again, so it's not going to work regardless of what you do: http://heliohost.grd.net.pl/monitor/ Johnny's uptime is terrible even on a good day, since the server is meant for testing things and is not meant for hosting a production website. Ignoring the current outage, normal uptime for Johnny is only around 95%, whereas Tommy is nearly 100%.

Considering how badly Johnny is performing at the moment, I'll be having Krydos look at the server...

Ok, now it's working. I've just set up the subdomains. Why is it not working when I try to access them?

  2. Once you add it to your account in cpanel, the server can tell which content belongs to which domain based on the apache configuration. When you add the site in cpanel, a virtual host is created in the apache configuration for it, which specifies its document root among other things. The server just looks at the domain in the request headers to determine where it should be looking for content.

This works for pretty much everything these days with the exception of SSL connections on Windows XP and older, which don't work due to a combination of our servers no longer having TLS 1.1 support and the OSes and browsers lacking support for Server Name Indication and newer TLS versions.

I didn't understand. So you mean I need to alter the htaccess config? I'm on the third day, and the domain is not working at all. Why. See. Is it correct?

  3. Hi, there. I have a website inside /home/munny/public_html/skeletronik/ and there there is a .htaccess file that controls directives to /public/index.php in a MVC standard created by me. I'm new to .htaccess. Well, that's my .htaccess file configuration:

    RewriteEngine onRewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-fRewriteRule ^(.*)$ /public/index.php?url=$1 [QSA,L]

    The result is:

    Not Found
The requested URL was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

What do you suggest for RewriteRule?

  4. Hey, unblock my IP please ( 177.13.249.69), my account is munny.

This happened because my account was suspended. I tried to recover and then I had to change my password twice. Then I tried to connect to the server via Dreamweaver FTP, but there I'd forgotten to change the password, too. After the frustrated attempts, this may have caused it to happen. Now I need it to be done urgently, because I need to send a file there, to reestablish connection. Thanks!

  5. I know. Johnny is just as bad to administer as he is to use. :( I can say that Johnny is easily my least favorite to deal with as an admin.

If you prefer a faster and more reliable experience, please consider moving to Tommy. Tommy doesn't experience any of these weird issues because he's not overloaded and has tighter controls in place to keep the server stable. Ricky is very slow, but is some sort of middle ground between Johnny and Tommy on the stability scale.

Johnny is basically a dumping ground for all the free accounts that are just passing through and want to test their code or host some sort of project temporarily. Johnny users who plan to stick around usually move to one of the other two servers once they know their code works here.

I've just done what you asked me to do. I changed my password for the second time. But nice! Now I forgot to change my password in Dreamweaver and I tried to connect to the server via FTP two or three times, and now my IP is blocked. Excellent!! I'll have to open a new request. Thank you!
  6. Try changing your password again. That error occurs if you change your password when MySQL is down. Since you can log in, change it through cPanel (at the bottom is an option for Password and Security).

cPanel uses your account password to log into mysql. If you change your password when MySQL is down, it isn't informed of the new password, and cPanel subsequently fails to log into mysql when it tries to use the new password against a mysql server that's still expecting the old one.

    Oh, my Lord. How difficult!

  7.

Are you checking the right email address (we have lb***88@***il.com)?

Also, Johnny has been seeing excessive load lately (the system is currently showing that server as down in fact), which will cause the reset mail to take longer than normal (if it ever comes at all). It's quite likely the reset will go to spam as well if it does arrive. Johnny is just a terrible server performance-wise due to overloading. If you don't receive the email, try resetting it again later when this monitor shows Johnny's load bars as green: http://heliohost.grd.net.pl/monitor/

If you need a server that actually works reliably, consider moving to Tommy. That server is substantially faster than all the others and doesn't have these issues.

Yep, I really see that I need a real Job's patience. Waiting for it come still.

Ok, I got to solve the first problem. Now how do I solve this?

    mysqli_connect(): (HY000/2002): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (111)

I just wanna connect to my database back.

Error: SQLSTATE[HY000] [1045] Access denied for user 'munny'@'johnny.heliohost.org' (using password: YES)

  9. Try resetting your password here: https://johnny.heliohost.org:2083/resetpass?start=1

Johnny account passwords usually won't reset through our website due to consistently high load on that server (and to be fair, the password reset on our website fails a lot even on low load servers like Tommy...I kind of wish we'd just do away with it).

Ok, but now I' stuck on that Security Code screen. Waiting for the message to come...

  10. The limit is actually 50 per day, not 100.

In order to raise the limit you have to provide us with some additional information to make sure the emails you're sending aren't considered spam by us.

    • A full example of an email you would send.
    • Where do you get your email addresses from?
    • How do your email addresses consent to being sent email from you?
    • How do your email addresses unsubscribe to your emails?
    • Do you share or sell or otherwise distribute the collected email addresses with anyone else?

    Understood, sir

  11. Emails are limited to 100 a day, crossing that limit will get your account suspended. Whatever client you use to send email doesn't matter, just be sure not to exceed the prescribed limit.

Nevermind, if the purpose of sending emails is important for you, you can request a limit increase.

Ok, and what is the maximum limit I can solicit? Is 1,000 possible?
