RT60 Calculator Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Hi there, I have set up an email address for my website: admin@rt60calculator.heliohost.org. I can successfully send emails from this account to other accounts - this goes without a hitch. However, I encounter an issue when I send an email to this account - it is seemingly sent successfully, but it never arrives at the admin account, nor is it registered on the Webmail cPanel application. What's gone wrong? Thanks, RT60 Calculator Guy. EDIT: The email I tried to send has bounced (hours later), stating that the DNS lookup failed. However, my website was online and operational at the time. Still, why should this happen?
Byron Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Go to your cpanel and look under the mail catagory for Default Address, I believe that's the name and follow the instructions.
RT60 Calculator Posted July 26, 2011 Author Posted July 26, 2011 Yes, it was set to redirect to the same address (admin@rt60...etc), but it is now redirecting to my home address. Still, why does this happen in the first place?
Byron Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 I think it's like that by default. If you've corrected it, it should stay corrected.
RT60 Calculator Posted July 28, 2011 Author Posted July 28, 2011 The email has been automatically resent after it failed the first time. It didn't get redirected - it didn't even get received by the mail server. DNS timeout error this time.
Byron Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 So are you saying that your still having a problem with your email?
RT60 Calculator Posted August 1, 2011 Author Posted August 1, 2011 So are you saying that your still having a problem with your email? Yes, even though the redirect to my home address has been set up. The email doesn't even get recieved, it just bounces back - the DNS lookup still fails.
Byron Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 This support request is being escalated to our root admin.
Ashoat Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 It seems that ns1.heliohost.org (Stevie) has the right results for this MX record, but ns2.heliohost.org (Cody) does not. However, the actual zone files seem to be intact on Cody. I'm syncing zone files right now, but once that's done I'll restart named on Cody in the hopes that that will correct this issue. Please continue discussion of this issue in this thread. Closing...
