gilgolf Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 My main website directory will load (eg. example.com) but my sub directories will not load and result in a 500 error. If this is due to server load then i understand, I just want to make sure it is not something else.
jje Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Could you post your domain name and cPanel username (so we can take a look) please. If you are not comfortable posting it upfront, then please feel free to PM it to me.
jje Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 What is the contents of the sub directory? Could you create an empty subdirectory and PM me the link?
jje Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Thanks for the PM. The link you PM'ed me seems fine... The WordPress files in your other directory seem to be incorrectly configured. Have you followed the Official WordPress 5 Minute Install guide? Maybe you could start a fresh install? Check the .htaccess file is correctly configures?
gilgolf Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 how do i make sure the .htaccess is properly configured?
Wizard Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Could you post your domain name and cPanel username (so we can take a look) please. If you are not comfortable posting it upfront, then please feel free to PM it to me. The details should be posted here and not sent through PM, ideally. We discourage support via PM because we wouldn't know if someone gave wrong information/support/etc until it was too late.
gilgolf Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 he has only been receiving my urls through the pm, his responses have all been posted in the forum, if it is indeed a .htaccess problem then how should I fix it, right now i have nothing installed so could someone post the default .htaccess file contents

jje Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 So you have completed all the steps (except access wp-admin/install.php) listed here (click)?
