swoter Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Dear Heliohost Team! My name is Max Kuksa and my username is kuksamax. My main domain is kuksa.org. Also I've add domain kuksa.ru. I'm very much obliged to you for hosting and I'm going to start my project here. There is a very stable and free DNS hosting in Russia. It is yandex.ru and I prefer dns1.yandex.ru, dns2.yandex.ru as my nameservers. So I'm interesting in Heliohost web hosting only. I suggest adding "kuksa.org. IN A 64.62.151.110" record in my zone file. But request "http://64.62.151.110" returns "HelioHost Account Queued" page always. Help me to adjust my account to be compatible with external DNS server, please. Thanking you in anticipation, Max Kuksa
rvt Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 What you are trying to do is definitely possible. I have it set up that way for my domain here. I suggest you look up "Virtual Hosting" to get a better understanding of what is going on. In short, many domains hosted on 1 IP address that the server then determines which files to send based on domain.

In short, many domains hosted on 1 IP address that the server then determines which files to send based on domain. I know that 64.62.151.110 is likely shared IP. Therefore I need URI to my site, for example http://heliohost.org/kuksamax. Also I'm thinking about another way. Add kuksa.heliohost.org and then put CNAME in zone file. But I don't know how to add kuksa.heliohost.org as I already have account with kuksa.org for main domain.
rvt Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Just create an A record pointing to the IP and you'll be good. You don't need any extra URL's or anything.
Guest Geoff Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Just add the domain as a parked or addon domain, then point the A record to heliohost.
swoter Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 rvt, Geoff, I'm following your instructions. Currently waiting renew of DNS information...
rvt Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Everything looks good and is working from my location. If you want your sites to be accessible with the "www" prefix, you should add CNAME records pointing to @ (Your A Record)

I create addon domain kuksa.ru and upload public_html/kuksa.ru/index.html. So kuksa.org/kuksa.ru works too. But I have one question as well. How to make alias kuksa.ru to kuksa.org/kuksa.ru?
Guest Geoff Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Looks like you need to wait 24 hours for any changes you made to take effect.

Guest Geoff Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 http://kuksa.ru - FAIL That web address shows: <html> KUKSA.RU </html> From this information, I can conclude that it's working fine for me.
