cjsenai Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Hi to the community, I am about to install wordpress into my domain, and I have a question to ask. I am using FTP to upload the latest wordpress engine, and when I am in FTP, I see a lot of folders at the root, public_ftp public_html www .cpanel .htpasswds .trash etc mail tmp I choose public_html folder, but inside, I see a lot of files and folders too... before I proceed, i just want to confirm whether I can remove those folders and files inside public_html anyone can help me, thanks
jje Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Yeah - you can install WordPress in public_html folder or in another folder inside public_html. The only folder you really need to keep in public_html is 'cgi-bin'. See the WordPress 5-Minute-Install Guide for more info on installing WordPress. Or, you could install it via Sodtaculous in cPanel. In Softaculous, when it asks for a directory: / = /home/jje/public_html /directory = /home/jje/public_html/directory
