Subdomains

A subdomain is basically an attachment to a domain. Eg. subdomain.domain.com

subdomain.domain.com == domain.com/subdomain

It takes a few hours for a subdomain to become active.

You can add subdomains in cPanel.

If you want it to act as a seperate domain, use an Addon Domain instead. It will still create the sub-domain but now you can point a domain name to it.

Subdomain:

http://alpha1omega.byrondallas.heliohost.org

Addon Domain:

http://alpha1omega.uni.cc

If you use the Addon Domain feature instead of the sub-domain feature it will automatically create the sub-domain for you.

In cPanel, you can set it so that the contents of subdomain.domain.com is in another folder.

Eg. domain.com = /home/jje/public_html

sub.domain.com = /home/jje/public_html/subdomain

So, to answer yout question, yes you can.
