Ashoat Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 (edited) There are more updates! Yay! And they are regarding the upcoming release of teh Helio Networks 2.0. Some changes: 1) There will be two seperate releases: HelioNet 2.0 and HelioHost 2.0. 2) HelioHost 2.0 will come out first, and will have these features:We do away with the annoying "Hosting Account" feature, and integrate it right into CPanel. [100% DONE]Ad hosting! Finally. The ad hosting installation is nearing completion. [100% DONE]A new server! Yay, no more long periods of random downtime. [100% DONE]3) HelioNet 2.0 will come out later, and will have these features:A new skin! Yah, the current one kinda sucks. [100% DONE]An automated HelioPolitics system... w00t. [0% DONE]An upgraded forum. I'm hoping IPB 2.1, but it might have to be IPB 2.0. [100% DONE]IBStore written for IPB 2.1 [75% DONE]What do you guys think? Bad, good, great, excellent? Any suggestions? All would be appreciated. Edited May 12, 2006 by djbob
Spaceman3750 Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Excellent. Both HH and HN need an overhaul.
nilayz Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 I'm particularly happy about the IPB being upgraded... it is just sooo irritating to see those 'Your Search has been completed' messages. Plus the new server sounds great. when are we going to get transferred?
Ashoat Posted November 24, 2005 Author Posted November 24, 2005 It depends mostly on one factor - when my 1337 Apache friends can get mod_layout installed. I can some weird config on the new server, so it's taking a while...
majazac Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 great news!!!! can't wait to see the new skin and features... YAY!!!
Ashoat Posted December 22, 2005 Author Posted December 22, 2005 I've updated everything a little. We've found a store for IPB 2.1, so we'll be upgrading to that. However, the new cPanel skin might not happen, because the company that made the skin seems to have went out of business or something of the such (the owner isn't responding).
Ashoat Posted May 12, 2006 Author Posted May 12, 2006 I've finished all but one of around twenty things on my HelioHost to-do list. I have upgraded the install script extensively, and customized cPanel and Apache a bunch. The only problem right now is that I can't get HelioNet (on the old server) to access the HelioHost database (on the new server). This is neccessary to allow automatic signups from the store. Once this is done, I'm hoping forum attendance will explode (I mean, after I resend us to all the free hosting directories and all).
HerLoss Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 Move HN onto the HH server? Or not... lol I really appreciate everything you've done here, even if I dont happen to use the services much. Keep it up.
Ashoat Posted May 16, 2006 Author Posted May 16, 2006 great!!!!! you rules!!!!I really appreciate everything you've done here, even if I dont happen to use the services much. Keep it up. Move HN onto the HH server? Or not... lolI'm going to keep it here because in the past, when the server crashed, there was no way to get updates or anything. This way, if HelioHost crashes, HelioNet will remain online for support.
