b_ing Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Currently I keep coming across "500 Internal Server Error" when trying to access http://www.bingblog.net or http://bingblog.net. What's the problem ? My account is : wubing Here is the error info: The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Byron Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 More than likely the error is coming from a bad line in your .htaccess file. Have you added any programs recently that would alter your .htaccess file?
b_ing Posted September 12, 2010 Author Posted September 12, 2010 More than likely the error is coming from a bad line in your .htaccess file. Have you added any programs recently that would alter your .htaccess file? I really don't know if I ever had made any changes. Would this file be changed if I install wordpress ? Would you please provide the default value of that file ? Thanks so much. would please help me look into the issue ? I just tried so many times to modify the .htacess but without an effort. Thanks in advance would please help me look into the issue ? I just tried so many times to modify the .htacess but without an effort. Thanks in advance
Byron Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Yes installing wordpress would alter your .htaccess file. If I posted you the default it would probably disable wordpress. Instead copy what's inside your public_html .htaccess file and post it here for me to show you what to delete.
b_ing Posted September 12, 2010 Author Posted September 12, 2010 I just reinstalled the frontpage extensions and this file has been modified. It seems as if I cannot reinstall my wordpress right now. Would you please reset my space to let it work ? I have a copy in my disc, so that wouldn't be too much changes.
Byron Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Unless your using Frontpage Extensions then I would recommend you uninstall them. If you've already removed your wordpress then delete your .htaccess file and your site should start working again. But installing wordpress again is just going to add to your .htaccess file what is giving you the 500 error. If you'll post what's being added by wordpress I can show you what to delete. I can't reset your site, all I can do is delete it and you can re-register.
b_ing Posted September 12, 2010 Author Posted September 12, 2010 OK. I have already uninstalled the Frontpage Extensions, deleted my .htacess file, and also uploaded my wordpress again, but it still gets this error. You can have a try http://www.bingblog.net/index.php One thing need to clarify: my wordpress works perfectly yesterday. All of sudden, it broke. It seems as if it's not a problem of the .htaccess, but instead it seems as if the php file cannot be run correctly. Other static files such as http://www.bingblog.net/readme.html can run correctly. What would be other problems ?
Byron Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Have you added any redirects? Can you please post what's in your .htaccess file.
b_ing Posted September 12, 2010 Author Posted September 12, 2010 I have already deleted the file. There is no content any more....
Byron Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Did you delete the htaccess file after you reinstalled wordpress again? Your wordpress is probably looking for the htaccess file to work. Delete your wordpress and before you install it again check to see that your domain doesn't return a 500 error.
b_ing Posted September 12, 2010 Author Posted September 12, 2010 Thanks for your quick replay, I really appreciate it. This issue has driven me a little crazy I deleteted the htaccess file after I reinstalled wordpress again. If my wordpress need to work with htaccess file, I probably get a 500 error. That's reasonable. I deleted my wordpress, but other php files still wasn't work. I think I need to point here: My domain works well. Please check this web page: http://www.bingblog.net/readme.html. But even with a empty php file, it won't work, please check this web page: http://www.bingblog.net/test.php. So I think the reason may be something else. Can you login into my account and give me a help ?
Byron Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 OK I'm going to login to your account and check it out, but I will be changing the password until I'm done and then I'll let you reset it after I'm finished.
b_ing Posted September 12, 2010 Author Posted September 12, 2010 thanks so much really really so appreciate !!!
Byron Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Your right, php has stopped working on your site and is returning a 500 error now. The easist way to fix this is to just let me delete your account and then have you re-register again. Have you got everything you need from your site saved so I can delete your account?
b_ing Posted September 12, 2010 Author Posted September 12, 2010 It seems as if I may not register today because your website has reached out the limited registers today, and I still need to wait for about 48 hours before I can build my website. If you delete my account and register again, do I still need to follow the up steps ? Is there a way to find out the reason and fix it ? So many thanks
