Wizard
I'm guessing you didn't bother to read the Wordpress documentation completely. Change the permissions to install.php to 644.

Byron
Are you using an FTP program to ftp your wordpress? Why not install wordpress from Fantastico at your cpanel?
A thinking being
cause of this: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 24 bytes) in /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/fantastico//includes/enc_check.inc.php on line 378 And after all, how can I be sure PHP is active for my account? Byron
That error has nothing to do with php working on your site. To check for php, create a page and call it "info.php" and add this code to it: <?php phpinfo(); ?> I'll go ahead and escalate this to djbob so you can install wordpress from Fantastico.
