xion Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Hi, I have a site hosted here at heliohost, recently I got a .co.cc domain and I know Heliohost can also host this domains, so my question is, how can I get heliohost to host my .co.cc domain? Do I have to change my current site account? I have tried to make a new account but it won't let me, so I'm guessing that's not the right way to do it. Thanks for any help you can give me
Wizard Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Add the co.cc domain as an addon domain. Change the nameservers at co.cc. Read the Support FAQ for details.
Byron Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 You may want to use the Parked Domain feature. That lets you access your site with either your heliohost domain or your co.cc domain. This is my default domain: http://byrondallas.heliohost.org/ This is my Parked Domain: http://bybyron.uni.cc/ Both go to the same place. Use your Parked Domain feature at your cpanel if that's what you want to do. And like Wizard said you need to point your domain to our nameservers.

It means I have one site but can acces it through both .cc.co and .heliohost.org?? Thanks for your help!

Bruce R Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 I have a similar question. When I set up my account recently I gave as my Heliohost domain name a domain name I own (brucerob.eu) that is currently allocated as a web address to a different ISP's server. To be able to re-direct traffic to Heliohost I need to provide my Heliohost URL to the ISP which should presumably be 'www.brucerob.eu'. But I think this leads to a vicious circle as that is both the URL that is being re-directed and the target URL. Do I need to re-register my Heliohost account with a different domain name or can I use the same name for both purposes? Or is there another way round it? I hope this is clear and hope my nagging suspicion that this is a stupid question is wrong.
Byron Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 If you want this domain brucerob.eu to point to heliohost, than you need to point it to heliohost. If you want it to go to another server than it needs to point to thst server. You can't have it pointing to two different places.

Thanks for your help! That's exactly right! Ooh that's nice! I'm going to try that! I actually added the co.cc site as an addon site, I hope that doesn't mess things up. Thanks a lot!!

Thanks for your help! That's exactly right! Ok, I configured the parked domain but I'm not seeing the right content when I enter the page. I configured the server names to: ns1.heliohost.org ns2.heliohost.org Then I removed the co.cc adress from the addon domains. Then I added the co.cc adress as a parked domain. Is there anything else I should do? This is my heliohost: http://xion.heliohost.org/ This is my co.cc: http://diggers-webcomic.co.cc/ Thanks for your help!
Byron Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Give it 24 hours to resolve and if your still not seeing your main domain through your parked domain, post back.
