moose2 Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 After my Heliohost account was activated I tried to install Wordpress using the Fantastico installer and everything seemed to have gone well - All the Wordpress files appeared to have been installed. However, when I tried to access /wp-admin/ I got a "500 Internal Server Error". I tried to get to other files as well, but everything just returned the same error. I uninstalled Wordpress and tried installing Drupal, but had the same results so I tried installing various other scripts but they all gave the same error when I tried to access my site. Now my .htaccess file is empty (which I don't think it should be) and I seem to have less folders & files in the /www directory of my site (there is just a 'cgi-bin' folder, 'images' folder, '.DS_Store' file and '.htaccess' file). Any help on what I need to do to get Wordpress (or any other script really) installed on my site will be appreciated!
Wizard Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Try installing in a subdirectory of your root folder (for example public_html/wordpress).
moose2 Posted November 29, 2009 Author Posted November 29, 2009 Try installing in a subdirectory of your root folder (for example public_html/wordpress). I tried that, but it didn't work either. I've also tried doing a manual install, however it gave the same error.
Wizard Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Huh. I'll add this on the list of things djbob needs to fix when he gets back.
moose2 Posted November 30, 2009 Author Posted November 30, 2009 Thanks Any idea of how long it will be until it works?
Wizard Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Unless it fixes itself, it'll be on the TODO list for djbob when he returns. We're not exactly sure when that is though. This might not work at all, but try installing it during a different time of day.
moose2 Posted November 30, 2009 Author Posted November 30, 2009 This might not work at all, but try installing it during a different time of day. Strange... but it seems to have worked! I installed Wordpress in a sub-directory, waited 30 minutes or so, and went to /wp/ (that's where I installed it) and it worked! I'd already tried installing it and waiting a day before trying to get to the site, but that didn't work. ...Very strange... Thanks for the help Wizard (although I do find it a bit hard to believe that the time of day could be what was preventing me from installing things ) [EDIT] And now (a few hours later) I'm getting a '500 Internal Server Error' again. Very strange. [EDIT 2] Now a minute later it's working again.
