lanchongzi Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Today my website was finally online ) But when i go there (http://tcmtranslation.heliohost.org/) i see this: Index of / * Forum/ * cgi-bin/ * houzi/ * images/ * postinfo.html * public_html/ Apache/2.2.11 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.11 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 mod_wsgi/3.0c3 Python/2.4.3 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at tcmtranslation.heliohost.org Port 80 i then have to click public_html to actually enter my site when i upload using dreamweaver i choose public_html - is that the reason? where else should i direct the path to? thanks in advance
Wizard Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Do you have an index.html in your public_html?
lanchongzi Posted September 5, 2009 Author Posted September 5, 2009 Do you have an index.html in your public_html? no i just have the above ( i just copied it from my website )
Byron Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 no i just have the above ( i just copied it from my website ) What you have is your dream server public_html folder inside of your heliohost public_html folder. So you actually have 2 public_html folders like this: /home/user/public_html/public_html You need to move the dream server files out of the dream server public_html and move them inside the heliohost public_html and then delete the extra public_html folder. Was it a zip file by chance that you opened up inside your root directory?
lanchongzi Posted September 5, 2009 Author Posted September 5, 2009 Byron I am sorry if i do not completely understand All i did was using the FTP upload function within Rapidweaver my setting was like this: server : ftp://www.heliohost.org username: houzi password: ****** path: public_html Should i leave the "Path" option empty maybe?
Byron Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Byron I am sorry if i do not completely understand All i did was using the FTP upload function within Rapidweaver my setting was like this: server : ftp://www.heliohost.org username: houzi password: ****** path: public_html Should i leave the "Path" option empty maybe? You either leave it empty or use path: /home/user_name/ When I ftp and forget to add public_html to the directory path my files end up in my user directory and that's where you want to upload your public_html. So try empty first. btw, this is your ftp url: ftp://www.tcmtranslation.heliohost.org or ftp.tcmtranslation.heliohost.org
lanchongzi Posted September 5, 2009 Author Posted September 5, 2009 Byron you are right about "ftp.tcmtranslation.heliohost.org" in my Rapidweaver settings it actually is written like this - it might show that I am not very skilled in this publishing a website stuff, yet ) will try to upload again and then delete the double Thanks for your help when it's done i will give a quick note on how it went
adobiogma Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Just spoke with very nice man at INmotion and found out it is a simple matter of naming the index.html page with a lower case i. Boy do I feel dumb - but happy now. thanks, Kevin
Mokothemonkey Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 don't you hate it when that happens? the internet can be pretty picky sometimes... remember to rename any links to your old "Index.html" to "index.html"
