fateful Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I got my website - [ http://mdm.heliohost.org ] a .com domain.. and have set both DNS servers provided by HelioNet ns1.heliohost.org and ns2.heliohost.org. Still I couldn't get to acess my new url: [ www.mdmurt.com ] .. I know that there's some time needed in order to DNS to propagate through the web, but also I have came across some info that new .net/.com domains were propagating really faster than the usual, sometimes working some 5 or 30 minutes after the DNS' host servers are set. So 1 day after setting up Heliohost's IP's to into my new domain, i've decided to do a further research on it, and got my new URL tested at CheckDNS.net: CheckDNS.NET is testing mdmurt.com CheckDNS.NET is asking root servers about authoritative NS for domain Got DNS list for 'mdmurt.com' from e.gtld-servers.net Found NS record: ns1.heliohost.org[65.19.143.4], was resolved to IP address by c0.org.afilias-nst.info Found NS record: ns2.heliohost.org[65.19.143.5], was resolved to IP address by c0.org.afilias-nst.info Domain has 2 DNS server(s) CheckDNS.NET is verifying if NS are alive DNS server ns1.heliohost.org[65.19.143.4] is alive, but not authoritative for domain 'mdmurt.com' and didn't return SOA DNS server ns2.heliohost.org[65.19.143.5] is alive, but not authoritative for domain 'mdmurt.com' and didn't return SOA 0 server(s) are alive No DNS servers alive, tests stopped So i'm just wondering if thats a real issue or just that the DNS has not propagated yet..

Yeah the DNS has not yet propagated. Wait 48 hrs in total before the DNS mappings are setup. And upto 72 hrs for proper functioning. Jose
fateful Posted November 26, 2008 Author Posted November 26, 2008 Thanks for the info, i'll give it some time then. best regards, Daniel.
fateful Posted November 29, 2008 Author Posted November 29, 2008 Hi there again.. I don't mean to be a pain to you guys, but way more than 72 hours have passed since i've set HelioHost's NS's to my domain and still nothing happens when I try to reach it. CheckDNS still display me the same error as stated above, none of the NS's are "authoritative for domain and didn't return SOA" .. so it may now be some other issue and possibily you guys could help me out with that? Really appreciate anything you can do for me on this.. regards, Daniel P. edit: wondering if there's anything I should set @ my heliohost's account Cpanel ?
Ashoat Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Uhm, yeah you do. How are we supposed to know what account your new domain is associated with? You need to add your domain under "Parked Domains" in your cPanel.
fateful Posted November 29, 2008 Author Posted November 29, 2008 Thanks for your fast reply, and please excuse my ignorance.. i'm a newcommer. I have added the url www.mdmurt.com to parked domains, redirecting it to http://mdm.heliohost.org .. but still i couldn't get to access the website throught the domain. Went to CheckDNS to see if anything had changed there and it actually have.. : CheckDNS.NET is verifying if NS are alive Tried to fetch SOA record for domain, but DNS server ns1.heliohost.org [65.19.143.4] returned error code Server Failure Tried to fetch SOA record for domain, but DNS server ns2.heliohost.org [65.19.143.5] returned error code Server Failure 0 server(s) are alive No DNS servers alive, tests stopped - I've also tried redirecting the domain including file ( http://mdm.heliohost.org/index.php ) as well but the result is the same.. what could I be doing wrong this time? Thank you.
fateful Posted November 29, 2008 Author Posted November 29, 2008 I have removed the parked domain and re-added with no redirection set ( as i've seen around that it wasn't needed since its supposed to read my accounts root anyways ).. I have insanely googled all around for a possible solution but that wasn't of mutch help.. I guess it may be a serverside issue?
fateful Posted December 2, 2008 Author Posted December 2, 2008 still trying/waiting/searching but i'm getting so frustrated about it... the error went back to the previous: DNS server ns2.heliohost.org[65.19.143.5] is alive, but not authoritative for domain 'mdmurt.com' and didn't return SOA .. i'm pretty sure that's a HelioHost issue or maybe domain's ( less possible though ) and really, i mean REALLY am looking forward for some help.. ( i might have refreshed this page around 90% of its total views.. :| ) Daniel P.
fateful Posted December 2, 2008 Author Posted December 2, 2008 Finally it works now.... ! :-o among the many attemps i've made to get it to work i mistyped the domain at cpanel the last time.. so that was the main reason.. lol.. sorry for me being annoying about it. but now that u're reading that.... is there any way to cloack url so that browser's URL bar displays the domain instead of heliohost's ? edit: nevermind .. i could figure that as well >> at first i set parked domain www.mdmurt.com // and was getting into a green Apache Server window.. so i had to redirect it to mdm.heliohost.org/index.php to get it working, so that's why the domain was getting 'replaced' by URL.. now for some reason i've disabled redirection and don't get green Apache Server page anymore.. That's it.. hope that topic does help anyone having simillar trouble in the future.
