krsmith28 Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 I keep getting "530 authentication failed" messages when trying to log into my site, using ftp. I am using ftp.[user].powys-dev.heliohost.org where [user] is a user I have added (and I have also tried my cpPanel login). The ftp client connects, I am asked for a password, and when I plug it in it comes back to tell me that authentication failed. I am using port 21. What am I missing? I have also tried with seamonkey and firefox, just to check whether it was a problem with the client, with similar results. I have successfully ftp'd to other (anonymous login) sites, so I don't think there is a problem with the connection to the internet for ftp. I have also tried using the WebDisk on nautilus in Ubuntu which also doesn't work - however that may be because I can't currently find where to open the appropriate ports. I have no problem accessing the Cpanel itself, via my web-browser, so the site itself exists, just devoid of content.... Any suggestions welcomed. K
Ashoat Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 No, you need to just use ftp://powys-dev.heliohost.org and login with that username and password.
