Hey,

I have two cron jobs, that I'd like to request are run once an hour... or once every two hours... I dont mind really, just more than once a day.

One of the scripts takes some info from an API and puts it into a gaming killboard, and the members of the site - although it can be done manually, would obviously like to see it happen more often than once a night. the other is supposed (although I believe I need to tweak it a little) to take an rss feed and do the same sort of thing.

Im guessing they might be a little heavy on the CPU side, as the default is for once and hour and one of them has been moved down to once a day.

But I thought I'd ask anyway, cos you know they say if you dont ask you dont get.

If it cant be done, then tough on them - Im not too bothered, they didnt want to cough up for hosting, and this plan is so freaking good - I dont see how they can complain.

Ta very much,

Laura

Hey Laura,

Can you give me the path or URL to your scripts so I can take a look at them? If they don't seem too CPU-intensive, I'll probably give you an exception. But if it turns out later that they are using too much CPU I'll have to put them down to once-a-day.

The first is http://www.serod.heliohost.org/kb/mods/API...cron_import.php

The second is http://www.serod.heliohost.org/kb/mods/fee...fetcher_140.php I think this one is not working properly atm. but I havent had a chance to fix it yet.

Thanks

L

OK, I took a look and they seem alright, but I'm not completely sure. Go ahead and put them at once an hour, but if I notice them taking an inordinate amount of CPU I will have to put them back to once a day.

PS: Sorry for the slow response.

Dont apologise... Ive got paid hosting and I get no response :D

I will try them out at once an hour (one on the hour and one at half past).

Feel free to shout and stomp at me if they do make everything slower than me in the morning.
