Hey everyone,

As you may know, I've had some trouble funding HelioHost lately, and I am losing a good deal of money. I need to put ads somewhere. Ads will enable me to upgrade the server, improve speed, expand the service, etc.

My question is: where would ads be least annoying? I would to fund the service, but I don't want to annoy anyone. Please pick your favorite three options out of the list.

Thanks,

djbob

* Interstitial ads show between page navigation, ie. when you click a link, you will see the ad first, and then it will forward to the page you want to see. You are able to skip viewing the ad through a link on the advertising page.

Oops. Didn't see that we were suppose to vote for 3 of them. I accidentally voted for 4. Guess I should learn to read everything before I post/vote.

Well I hope you can set up the ads soon, so you can start turning a profit.

The least obtrusive place so far (currently the site footer as of this posting) will be the place that will generate the least revenue. Take into consideration that Heliohost will no longer exist if djbob feels that this place is burning a hole in his pocket.

Wow, I'm surprised djbob is asking for our opinion.

My personal opinion, djbob, is to put it in every area you feel like in order to get you the maximum profit. My only request is that the ads aren't those annoying flashing "You just one a free <insert prize her>".

It's up to Google, they're Google ads of course. Those flashing ones give the most money per click.

You're suprised? I've only been here for a couple days, and I can tell that this is the kind of host that will almost always ask about things like this!

It's simply the point that he is asking us about a decision which will effect his profit.

I guess my point is that djbob is such a good admin I wouldn't mind him taking a few liberties when it comes to this.

We could all just click on the ads 1000 times each, and then djbob shouldn't have any money problems. ;)

I'm currently trying out the cPanel ads. I'm going to see how much money they rake in, and if they're worth the annoyance.

That wouldn't be fair to Google or the advertiser.

Though I do not click the ads solely on the purpose of getting you money, I do try to look at them and see if there is anything I am remotely interested in and then click on it and view the page.

Anybody have any reactions to the new ads? Are they too annoying, or are they alright? I\'ll tell you that I\'m not making too much money off of them, anyways. Much less than the ads on HelioNet, anyway.

Note that the interstitials are pay-per-view, not pay-per-click. It may be that we have a higher click-to-view ratio that the average, and so pay-per-click ads might be more effective.
