ShannenName Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Most of the time when I come to visit HelioNet forums the front page will work fine (index.php) and then as soon as I navigate to any other page it will try to load for a while then a page error comes up, next time it happens I will take a screen shot. Does this happen to anyone else or just me? How do I fix it?
ShannenName Posted December 14, 2007 Author Posted December 14, 2007 OK I have a screenshot of the page and the url just in case that has anything to do with it.bug.bmp
AverageJoe Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 This happens when Helionet's server's are overloaded. Hopefully djbob will be able to upgrade the servers some time soon.
ShannenName Posted December 15, 2007 Author Posted December 15, 2007 Ok thanks for this I was wondering if it was just me because no-one else seemed to mention this.
ShannenName Posted December 16, 2007 Author Posted December 16, 2007 Djbob can you upgrade the servers so there isn't so much server load?
Ashoat Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 If you want to donate money for me to do that, sure. I'm losing enough money on this as it is, without the ads system in place and all.
ShannenName Posted December 16, 2007 Author Posted December 16, 2007 Oh yes, sorry, when you get everything up and running and a bit of cash in your pocket and some spare time then can you?
Ashoat Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 I'm not upgrading until I'm at least making a profit in my current situation.
ShannenName Posted December 17, 2007 Author Posted December 17, 2007 Maybe you should introduce payed hosted as well as free hosting or post-for-hosting..just an idea
Ashoat Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 That would mean that I am obligated to support the paid hosting. Furthermore, it might be hard managing the finances. And finally, that would make me cobranded. I can consider the idea, but at this time I don't think it's going to happen.
ShannenName Posted January 1, 2008 Author Posted January 1, 2008 Well why don't you make a support team? I am sure most people on HelioNet would be happy to do it for free or even better be paid in Helions
Wizard Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 ShannenName has got a point. I wouldn't mind working to keep my site online.
Ashoat Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 I don't really trust any of you. None of you have any experience with Linux server admin. People go to college to learn how to handle these things - I highly doubt any of you would know what to do if the server crashed.

Maybe there are small tasks that can be handled by us so that you can focus on keeping heliohost up? Out of curiousity, did you go to college to learn how to manage a server?
Ashoat Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Nope... I mostly taught myself. As for the small tasks, perhaps... but it would take some coding to get a user system up and running, so maybe, but not in the near future.
