Hi,

I've been struggling for the last 15 minutes trying to add my own custom email to Gmail.

The outgoing setup works fine with the default configuration suggested by cPanel which is:

stevie.heliohost.org

SMTP: Port 465

The problems comes making the ingoing setup, with always the default values:

stevie.heliohost.org

IMAP: Port 993

POP3: Port 995

And Gmail gives me the following error:

Impossibile stabilire una connessione SSL protetta con stevie.heliohost.org[ Guida ] Errore restituito dal server: "SSL error: self signed certificate"

As far as I understood reading some old topics back in 2012 is that cPanel makes self signed certificates that used to be allowed by Gmail but not anymore from 2012 due to MTM attacks.

If so, is there any particular configuration I should do to not make self signed certificate / bypass this error / find an alternative to Gmail?

Any suggestion is highly appreciated, thanks!

Finally found a perfect alternative instead of spending more money on SSL certificates.

For anyone using a similar config, keep the outgoing setup with stevie.heliohost.org on port 465 (in case you want to reply mails from your custom email) and forward every mail that get to your custom email to Gmail by simply going to "User Level Filtering" in the cPanel and add a rule of your email as it is:

Select in the fields “To” and “contains” (as I’ve read it is much more forgiving than “equals”).

For the "Actions", set the first to “Redirect to email” and paste in your Gmail address.

That's all, you can flag this thread as solved, mods.
