myscrnnm Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 I may be buying a new camcorder soon, cuz my old JVC is really outdated. Does anybody have any advice on which camcorders are the most user-friendly, reliable, and high-quality? I like Sony Handycams with Carl Zeiss lenses , and Panasonics with Leica lenses, but I just wanted to know what others here think.
Ashoat Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 I voted Nikon except its not there, so i voted "Other"
myscrnnm Posted February 8, 2005 Author Posted February 8, 2005 I wasn't aware that Nikon made camcorders. I had always thought that they just made cameras, and some other stuff, but not camcorders. Can you lead me to their camcorder site? Cuz I can't find anything about camcorders from their mainpage.
myscrnnm Posted February 9, 2005 Author Posted February 9, 2005 I see, but I meant for this topic to be about "dedicated" camcorders. Like, cameras that are designed specifically for video capture. btw, I voted for Sony, because their new Sony Handycam HDR-FX1 is like the coolest camcorder ever!
lappy512 Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 it's not the brand, it's the camera itself that you want to look at.
myscrnnm Posted February 18, 2005 Author Posted February 18, 2005 it's not the brand, it's the camera itself that you want to look at. Not necessarily. Some brands just have a fine reputation for making high-quality stuff. For instance, Sony camcorders use German-made Carl Zeiss lenses, Panasonic camcorders use German-made Leica Dicomar lenses, Canon camcorders use the Japan-made DigicDV image processor, et cetera.
wee Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 it's not the brand, it's the camera itself that you want to look at. i say we compromise and look both
lappy512 Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 but, if the brand is bad, wouldn't the camera be bad? so why do we analize the company?
myscrnnm Posted March 6, 2005 Author Posted March 6, 2005 but, if the brand is bad, wouldn't the camera be bad? so why do we analize the company? But all of the brands that I put in the poll are high-quality brands. btw, has anyone seen the new Panasonic PV-GS120? It is a nice compact camcorder with Leica lenses.
GameClaw_268 Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 WHat reason do you have for getting a camcorder other than an older one that uses tapes? Are you gonna edit the movies?
Korps Commander Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 I may be buying a new camcorder soon, cuz my old JVC is really outdated. Does anybody have any advice on which camcorders are the most user-friendly, reliable, and high-quality? I like Sony Handycams with Carl Zeiss lenses , and Panasonics with Leica lenses, but I just wanted to know what others here think. So, which camcorder did you finally get (if any)?
myscrnnm Posted April 14, 2005 Author Posted April 14, 2005 WHat reason do you have for getting a camcorder other than an older one that uses tapes? Are you gonna edit the movies? I don't think u understand. I mean, most camcorders still use tapes as the standard media. They use a type of media called the MiniDV. The MiniDV is similar 2 a VHS, but several times smaller. While there r camcorders than use Memory Sticks, Secure Digital cards, MicroDrives, Mini DVDs, et cetera, the MiniDV is still the mode.
PhoenixFlame512 Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 I have used JVCs, Panasonics, and Sony's. But overall, I would have to say that Sony's Handycam camcorders are the best of the lot. They have high-quality Zeiss lenses and good overall image quality.
