I recently moved to heliohost from another free hosting service. It has been really fabulous experience (apart from the Jhonny issues, but now I am no Stevie :D) with the number of domains, subdomains, email accounts that Helio has to offer. The only shortfall so far that I find is the limit of cron jobs (2 per day IMHO is very less). My site really needs to do some database updation, based on a light php script, this needs to be done as frequently as possible, once per 5 minute is what I would be glad to have it run. The script isn't CPU intensive as my previous host never had an issue when I ran this script every 5 minutes there, and they were really strict about the CPU usages.

So my question is, is there a way (cron or otherwise) I can run a light weight script every 5 minutes?

Thanks will give the remote crons a try, but is there no way we can run scripts regularly on helio itself? Even if they are really really lightweight?

There is no way, since it would not be fair to make exceptions for some users and not for all. Setcronjob.com will work fine, many HelioHost users have successfully deployed it on their sites.

OK, thanks.

Suggestion: It would be great to limit crons based on cpu utilization rather than by frequency, since the main concern would be cpu? Or at least increase the limit from 2/day to 2/hour?

2/hr/#ofHHUsers/Day no matter how cpu non-intensive each script is adds up to a lot

ok, no problems, was just saying as I have recently migrated from a free host that allowed me one cron each 5 minutes. i.e. 12 crons per user per hour
