This is a very basic question, but I have not been able to find the information.

 

Where do I store my web site files: public_html, or www? I started to load my files into www, but it stopped accepting them.

 

Also, do you provide web page hit counter support, and if so how do I code for it? I really want to have just one, on my home page, and would like to be able to add the count from my site's previous incarnation if possible.

public_html is the one to use. www is a symlink to public_html created by cPanel, it doesn't work well though.

There is a software section in cPanel towards the bottom that includes a hit counter. You could also Google it, there are many out there free for use.
