Nathan Johnson Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 I'm wondering, what server is down the most often: Stevie or Johnny? It seems like (lately) Stevie has been down more than Johnny, but I don't know because I'm not on Johnny. So what is actually down the most?
xwinuser Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Since I have signed up, I have been on Johnny. The longest time down I have experienced is 30 minutes. I have watched the monitoring site for Stevie and lately it has been down for hours at a time. http://heliohost.grd.net.pl/monitor/ The admins say (and I believe them) Johnny is usually the one that is more unstable so I would have to think that Stevie is having temporary problems and the admins are working to resolve them. I can only guess as to what those problems are: most likely too many accounts/sites. If this is the case there may need to be another server put in place or a back up server for load balancing. Maybe load balancing in the router if both servers are on the same T (whatever the dedicated line). Maybe another T. These are only my guesses and thoughts. 1
Bad Wolf Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Stevie. Old. Tired. Loaded. He's just hoping for some rest.
Tjoene Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Stevie is normally the most stable server. But due to unknown problems, Stevie has been down a lot.We are trying to fix this as soon as we can
anush Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Is there any options in server like re installing the operating system.Like we do on desktop or laptop when it gets too slow due to Trojan or virus. If it is possible then you can ask all the members to back up their data and then re install . i don't know much about it, i just askd is it possible or not in a server. 1
Ice IT Support Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Yes that option is always available, but there are days worth of re-configuration involved making this a last resort.
