Guest xaav Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 HelioHost could possibly offer support for rails 3 by following this tutorial. However, other rails applications would not be supported, and cPanel's ruby on rails section would not be valid anymore. I'm going to make this into a poll so that people can vote. Before you vote, please consider the following:NOTE THAT IF WE ADOPT RAILS 3, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RUN RAILS 2 / RAILS 1 APPLICATIONS.
xwinuser Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I am all for moving forward as long as the platform has been proven beneficial and this is the case with Rails. http://rubyonrails.org/screencasts/rails3
ardens Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Absolutely, Rails 3 should be supported first of all
Guest xaav Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Okay, rails 3 will be installed next friday (to allow time for people to upgrade their Rails 2 apps).
demizide Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Okay, rails 3 will be installed next friday (to allow time for people to upgrade their Rails 2 apps). If you are upgradin to RoR 3, you should REALLY upgrade to Ruby 1.9.3 too. The difference is quite big.
Guest xaav Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I'll see if this is possible, but it may not be due to the configuration of cPanel.
Guest xaav Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 It appears that Rails 1.9.3 will probably be able to be installed also. For my reference: http://howboring.com/post/1226760251/centos-5-and-rails-3-and-ruby-1-9-2
Guest xaav Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Done. There are different steps you have to do to install a rails application. I'll post them when I have the time. 1
Guest xaav Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 The instructions for deploying a rails application are here. Please do not use "Rails applications" in your cPanel anymore.
