What happens if you set up an add-on domain with the public_html folder as root folder, instead of a sub-folder.

Will you see the same site as your main domain?

And will files be overwritten if you create an add-on domain with the public_html folder as root?

Thanks,

I'm currently using parked domains.

But I want to use an other domain.

And I prefer to keep my heliohost domain in case something happens with my 2nd domain.

Yes.

When you add a Parked Domain your main domain (.heliohost.org probably) is still active. So is all of the other Parked Domains if you have any.

Parked Domains all resemble somebody's public_html. When creating a parked domain, no other existing domains are deleted or affected in any way.

HelioHost offers users an unlimited amount of Parked Domains.

But I want to use an other domain.
What do you mean by 'other domain'?
