  1. My account was suspended after a month of inactivity. It let me download my backup then told me to sign back up. I used the same email and validated just fine but it said my previous username jcook was unavailable so I used jc

Is there any way to reclaim my old username/domain? I have some jcook.heliohost.org URLs floating on the interwebs so it'd be nice to keep it the same. Totally understandable if it's not possible though.

I also feel like it would be nice to get an email when your account is suspended though. I had no idea my sites were even down! I guess that's the price I pay for being lazy about making updates. ;) I took this opportunity to move from Johnny to Ricky, so that's one good thing!

It's free hosting though, and you guys are great, so I can't complain. :)

  2. Thank you thank you thaaaaank you Krydos & wolstech! Adding emailsaga.jcook.heliohost.org as a subdomain made emailsa.ga show up in my add-on domain list with a subdomain of emailsaga. I'm not out of the woods yet but I'm hopeful. I was getting the "account queued" page at emailsa.ga before so there's no other indicator I'm aware of. I'll just have to be patient and give it 24 hours. I'll let you guys know if that worked.

  3. You can edit the wiki if you want. The twenty posts rule is mainly just there to make sure people are willing to contribute to the community. If you let us know your wiki username you can get promoted to have access to edit.

Regarding installing your own python modules, there have been a few different methods posted on the forums over the years that work, but most people find it easier to just make a post asking an admin to install it for them. We don't mind installing the modules. It takes less than a minute and it's a lot less complicated for people.

My wiki username is jcook just like my forum and HelioHost userbame. :) I'd love to contribute in any way I can!

  4. So it looks like I won't be able to actually add anything to the wiki since I do not meet the requirements, bummer. Maybe someday I'll qualify but who knows. Hopefully if someone needs to know they'll look it up in the forums!!

I also just noticed that using my method created a .local directory in the /home/username root and then inside it a python3.6 folder (as well as a python2.6 and python2.7 depending on which python version I used to install). I think creating that /home/user/.local/python3.6 directory and adding packages there instead may theoretically work, provided you've met all of the dependencies.

  5. On February 12th I added an add-on Domain through my jcook.heliohost.org account on Johnny. The add-on Domain is emailsa.ga and is hosted through Freenom. I added HelioHost's nameservers in freenom and have been patient but now it's been almost a month.

When I go to emailsa.ga I get the "account queued" page still. I've tried clearing out my browser to be sure that's not the issue. When I go to add-on domains in cPanel it says none have been configured despite it appearing EVERYWHERE else (Site Publisher which isn't working, error pages, DNS). If I try to add it to add-on domains again I am also given errors saying it's already present in Apache configuration and DNS records already exist.

Can someone let me know if I'm missing something or what I need to do in order to get domain up using HelioHost?

Here are some screenshots I put on Google Drive that may help:

  6. So I just started using the Johnny server, wanting to integrate some of my python scripts into the web. I decided to use cgi scripts since I'm a beginner.

I looked around on the forms and Google trying to find out how to install various python packages. I've seen some posts on the forms requesting installs but I didn't want to both them with it. Cron jobs kind of worked the couple times I tried, but with only 2 allowed per day that was really limiting.

I found a great way for users to install python packages on their server with no hoops to jump through. I'm wondering where I should post this information to help others - a forum category, wiki, somewhere else?

Script is at jcook.heliohost.org/cgi-bin/install-packages.py for anyone wanting to take a look. It has to have permissions set to 755 and you install by just visiting the page. Delete when done.

  7. How do I get my IP unblocked? It says I was blocked due to failed login attempts. Reading through the forums, it seems like the default FTP accounts do not work on Johnny. I figured it out on my own and created an additional user with root access (which was successful), but it looks like I figured it out too late.

The IP blocked is 184.158.15.121 - what do you need from me to get this resolved?
