  1. Is using A records a problem? It's not that I wouldn't mind changing to HelioHost's NS records, however then I would have to manage the DNS settings through the HelioHost CPanel for my Google Apps requirements. Where as ideally I would like to manage them through GoDaddy's Domain Management, especially since I have already set them up there. Further more I'm assuming switching to HelioHost's NS records would require me to wait until the account is added before I could use my Google App services again. Also would any possible down time on HelioHost not incapacitate my Email services?
  2. Just a quick update. I've changed the A records of one of my domains (mohammodali.co.uk) and am now seeing the heliohost account queued splash page. So that's working great, and as I need it to be, just waiting for it to go up now. Thanks. Best Regards.
  3. Gmail, no question about it! I used Hotmail and well... was used to it. That was before I got the illustrious invitation code for GMail. I was blown away, and then of course it kept getting better and better over the years. Still till this day I use GMail, I think it's been nearly 6 years since I started using GMail and I haven't gone back to Hotmail once.
  4. Thanks for the replies guys, I really appreciate it. I was still waiting for my account to be activated, so I'm just getting ahead of myself here and asking these questions just to understand if it were plausible or not. Thanks again!
  5. A quick update and 2nd query. Just signed up to Google Apps for their email service. I've changed the MX records etc as need be for my purchased domain name, thus have Google Mail set up and working. Now my question is; with GoDaddy, to be able to change Total DNS settings (to set up CName and MX records required for Google Apps) you have to use the default NameServers of GoDaddy's parked domains. So would I be able to use HelioHost with my domain name? Since changing to the HelioHost NameServers will disable Total DNS settings on the GoDaddy domain manager and consequently disable Google Apps. Is there a way around this? So I may use both HelioHost for my web hosting needs and the Google Apps email service? Nearly forgot to mention my heliohost details. My username is mojahid and my domain name is mojahid.heliohost.org.
  6. Thanks for the reply, I'm only looking to use it as my personal email address so I won't be intending to break any of the TOSs. Unfortunately I didn't realise AOL offered such a service, though I may decide to use my current domain with it if possible. So thanks for pointing this out. Thanks, will read the FAQ. I'm quite new to this, so my mistake on the terminology. Thanks again!
  7. Hi, Firstly I've just registered my HelioHost account, as I understand it won't be active for another 48 hours, which is cool. I've also gone and registered a 2 .co.uk domains via GoDaddy. The reason I've signed up for HelioHost is because I currently don't need a professional web host, in all honesty I don't even need a website as of this moment. What I'm really looking for is a personal email address with my domain for... well personal uses. As I understand the email part is offered by HelioHost which is great. However I just wish to enquire whether this is fine by HelioHost's TOS. Would I be allowed to use HelioHost primarily just for my email needs? Secondly, as I mentioned earlier, I did purchase 2 domains. I would ideally like one domain (domain#1) just for my email. However, when I get around to it, eventually one day I would like to set up a website on domain#2 also hosted at HelioHost. And when accessing domain#1 via browser (http) it will just redirect to my second domain (domain#2). I was wondering if this is all possible since I am quite new to hosting and have only really ever used CPanel once before. Thanks in advance for any helpful replies. Best Regards. Sorry for the double topic posting. I have no idea what happened there. I may have clicked submit twice. DOH! If a moderator or admin could kindly delete one of the topics, thanks! Sorry to be a nuisance.
