manish_kvs Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 hi, i've made a free account on heliohost. i want to make a site where people can interact. you can say that it resembles a social networking site as well as a forum and a blog. for this, the users will have to make an account oon my site and something like that. i hope you understand. can i do this with a free account? if yes, can you suggest where to start. i just need a brief direction.
Wizard Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Yes. From the sounds of it though, you should probably learn a lot more about web hosting/web design/CMS before you try.
manish_kvs Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 well, i know html and web designing using flash. where can i learn cms?
Wizard Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Consult the Oracle. Though you could probably get away with not knowing them, you'll also need to learn databases (like MySQL) and server side scripting (like PHP) if you want to radically customize your CMS. I can tell you off the bat that unless you're dedicated, you're not gonna get this done.
jje Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Take a look at 'Softaculous' in your cPanel. It contains many different 'softwares' for making different websites - each one is pre-coded and most don't require any web-coding knowledge!
manish_kvs Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 thanks jje thanks wiz, you're right. well i'll try my best.
deis Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 thanks jje thanks wiz, you're right. well i'll try my best. If you seriously want to do this, hire a real developer.
jje Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 thanks jje thanks wiz, you're right. well i'll try my best. If you seriously want to do this, hire a real developer. Even though you could pay for a developer to make a professional site, many services that a developer offers can already be added to your site for free using a CMS (or any other softwares in Softaculous).
