HerLoss Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Its about time, considering AMD has been making better and cheaper chips than intel for awhile. Read the whole story at http://news.com.com/AMD+surpasses+Intel+in...39522&subj=news Desktop computers and notebooks with AMD chips accounted for 49.8 percent of PCs sold in domestic stores for the month, compared with Intel's 48.5 percent of the market, according to the Current Analysis report.
myscrnnm II Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 Old news to everyone except you, gramps. Also, AMD chips are cheaper than Intel chips, but not necessarily better.
HerLoss Posted November 13, 2005 Author Posted November 13, 2005 considering its only four days old, I dont think so, and I'm not exactly your granddaddy. For that I would have to have tapped your grandma, but even I wouldnt stoop so low. I'm just your daddy.
amhso Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 I heard there was talk of Dell switching to AMD!!!
HerLoss Posted November 15, 2005 Author Posted November 15, 2005 If I wasnt a DIY guy, that would be AWESOME!
amhso Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 i would only get dells because they are cheap. AMD's stocks are on the rise guys! hehe dad just made a bunch of money to cover up for the expensive bike he bought from AMD stocks
HerLoss Posted November 16, 2005 Author Posted November 16, 2005 its times like this I wish I had the extra cash to screw around with stocks...
Kyougi Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Oh, I know, I'll act like Mystpdnm, AMD processors have a better framerate for gaming, and mature gamers have AMD processors. I have 2 AMD, for gaming, and 1 Pentium 4, for work.
Spaceman3750 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 I personally am a fan of AMD processors. They provide the same, if not more, power as an Intel and without the high cost.
Kyougi Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 I personally am a fan of AMD processors. They provide the same, if not more, power as an Intel and without the high cost. An Intel is stable, but AMD has power, however unstable it can be at times =P
myscrnnm II Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Oh, I know, I'll act like Mystpdnm, AMD processors have a better framerate for gaming, and mature gamers have AMD processors. I have 2 AMD, for gaming, and 1 Pentium 4, for work. Oh, I know. You can act like yourself and go [bleeped!] yourself in your [bleeped!] [bleeped!]! And I actually don't support AMD, I only use Intel processors. They have larger caches, have higher clock speeds, and are more reliable.
HerLoss Posted November 27, 2005 Author Posted November 27, 2005 And charge 600+ for a chip that costs them only 40 to make.
myscrnnm II Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 And charge 600+ for a chip that costs them only 40 to make. That's cuz you don't understand consumer electronics. Companies have to sell stuff with retail prices that are higher than the manufacturing costs so that they can make a profit, dumbass. And manufacturing costs aren't everything. You didn't take into account all the development and research that goes into designing the chip. Not to mention that facilities and equipment with which the chips are manufactured.
HerLoss Posted November 27, 2005 Author Posted November 27, 2005 ooo, so charge 60 bucks, sell 10 million, and make a 200 million dollar profit to cover a years work researching, and what little advertising they should have to do. That's more than enough.
