hugh.jeego Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 i have limite experience with linux. a friend had it, and i tried to install it on my pc, on a seperate partition from windows xp pro mce, and it f**ked up my partition. the installation messed up half way through and i was left with a virtually unrepairable 40GB. i know that really wasnt linux's fault, but since then i've always held it against linux.
Dodge Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 I say microsoft because it just has that great feeling in it
daCris Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 I use Windows XP. I once installed Linux and had some problems with it(probably my fault).
myscrnnm II Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 I use Windows XP. I once installed Linux and had some problems with it(probably my fault). I doubt it. It may have been due to the fact that Linux is a very unstable and crude operating system. If you want a very refined operating system, go for Mac OS X, the most sophisticated operating system in the world.
HerLoss Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Now you're just asking for it. Mac OS is basically a X-windows system for Unix, run like Ubunto uses Gnome and KDE. Linux and Unix are basically the same thing, and so are linux and Mac OS, besides the fact that linux, being a CLI, will always pwn any GUI-based OS. Period. Its faster, better uses a system's hardware, and isnt loaded with viruses and the like targetting it.
daCris Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 I use Microsoft Windows XP Professional and I like it...
amhso Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 I prefer linux over all the others because it's more reliable and hogs less resources making your computer run faster than other OS's, while still letting you change hardware to what you like, unlike mac's. The overall flexibility of Linux is better too, you can make it do whatever you want, and look the way it wants, and perferm the way you want. Not only that, but it doesn't hide things from you. Windows and OSX hide all system processes from you, even as administrator. In linux, you can find everything you want...and more. Don't forget that over 60-70% of the servers that make up the web run off of linux for reliability and useability, and security.
HerLoss Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 Well said, although I've been arguing those same points for a long time and there are some people who just wont listen to it.
amhso Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 people that don't believe those facts are just those who are ignorent, or just don't know much about the operating system they're using. Just like I am dumbfounded when it omes to Macs.
myscrnnm II Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 linux, being a CLI, will always pwn any GUI-based OS. What the bloody [bleeped!] are you smokin', [bleeped!]?! GUI totally pwnz CLI now, and it always will! GUI is just plain better because it is more intuitive and more practical.
HerLoss Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 linux, being a CLI, will always pwn any GUI-based OS. GUI is just plain better because it is more intuitive and more practical. Only for morons who cant grasp the idea of telling their computer exactly what to do and dont like the idea of their system running faster and more efficiently.

Then I guess you'll just have to roll with it. Cuz according to you, most computer-using people are morons.
HerLoss Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 Most computer using people ARE morons. Why do you think that most cubical-packed office buildings need a tech-guy or 5? Cuz no one else knows anything outside of double clicking the Icon for Word or Excel, typing, and clicking file-save. Thats most of the population of the computer world for you.
amhso Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 gui or not doesn't make one OS better than the other. no gui is just for the low-level user that wants things done.
nilayz Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Without GUI, you won't be able to watch videos on your comp !
