myscrnnm Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 There are all sorts of operating systems out there, but which one is the best? That is, in terms of reliability, user-interface, et cetera. Quote
Ashoat Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 i voted windows, cuz it is wayyyyy better than linux and mac and "other" Quote
myscrnnm Posted February 7, 2005 Author Posted February 7, 2005 Do you mean that it has a better interface, reliability, features, et cetera? btw, I voted for the Mac OS because their current one, the Mac OS X Panther, is the most sophisticated operating system in the world, and from personal experience, it definitely looks and feels like the most sophisticated operating system in the world. lappy512 Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Is there only one version of windows? You say: "MS Windows' but "any version" for mac. Quote
myscrnnm Posted February 8, 2005 Author Posted February 8, 2005 No, there are actually several versions of Microsoft Windows. The most well known versions are Windows 95, 98, 2000, Millenium Edition (ME), XP, and soon, there will be Longhorn. Each one has several editions, for instance, the XP version has Home Edition, Professional, Tablet PC Edition, Media Centre Edition, 64-bit Edition, et cetera. Each one is built for different purposes. Home Edition is usually used for Word processing and other simple tasks. Professional is usually used by engineers for mobile computing. Tablet PC Edition is used in Tablet PCs, hence the name Tablet PC Edition. Media Centre Edition is used for media centres, also hence the name. 64-bit Edition is used for computers with 64-bit processors, which may have applications that can make use of the 64-bit processor. lappy512 Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 then in parenthesis you should say "any version" Quote
myscrnnm Posted February 8, 2005 Author Posted February 8, 2005 There, I have changed it, now I hope you are happy. You have wasted my time and my money. Quote
Ashoat Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 how money?? nvm dont tell me: time is money. Quote
wee Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 I would like to see longhorn when it comes out. ill wait to buy a new computer until they bundle it with new ones. Quote
myscrnnm Posted February 18, 2005 Author Posted February 18, 2005 I would like to see longhorn when it comes out. ill wait to buy a new computer until they bundle it with new ones. It certainly looks cool. What with the three-dimensional windows and stuff. You can preview the looks with some sort of plugin. I have one that a friend gave me. Quote
wee Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 yes ive seen that plugin. i thought about downloading it but i thought my mom would get mad Quote
calvinator Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 For most purposes, I dont understand why people would prefer linux, except for its cost, and low memory takeup. I hold nothing against it, it just seems unnecessary for someone like lappy who has suped-up computers. Quote
Ashoat Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Exactly! It serves no purpose otherwise. And no, its NOT more secure. Quote
wee Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 most people even prefer EvolutionX over Xbox linux Quote
myscrnnm Posted March 6, 2005 Author Posted March 6, 2005 yes ive seen that plugin. i thought about downloading it but i thought my mom would get mad I doubt it. But apparently it doesn't work. I tried to open it, and then I thought I would try it again later, and then it somehow got deleted. Quote
