secrets2bettergolf Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Hi. I've changed the nameservers for my domain - secrets2bettergolf.co.uk - to point to heliohost but still my website doesn't appear. What do I need to do next? I'm assuming I've missed something that makes me a bit dense ...
Byron Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Did you register with that domain or are you trying to park it at your cpanel?
secrets2bettergolf Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 Hi. I registered the domain via cheapdomainnames.co.uk and it was pointed towards the servers at namesco. I changed the name servers to point towards heliohost. Do I need to change any DNS zone settings (A records or CNAME records or whatever), or just park the domain on the cPanel, or what? You might tell I'm a bit new to this and getting confused ... But thinking about it, surely I can't park this domain as it's my main domain?
Byron Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 If you already have a sub-domain with heliohost, then you need to park it at your cpanel. If you don't have a sub-domain with heliohost then you can register that domain name when you sign up with us. If you don't understand what I mean by a heliohost sub-domain it would look like this: http://your-name.heliohost.org UPDATE: I'm seeing your site now. http://www.secrets2bettergolf.co.uk/ You might need to refresh.
secrets2bettergolf Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 Hi. When I look at my site I just see a 'Namesco' page - which isn't what's uploaded via the cpanel. And why would I want a sub-domain? What's that for, what does it do and how does it work? (D'oh, I'm sure it shouldn't be this tricky. I'm losing the will to live.)
Byron Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 I"m seeing your golf page, try refreshing. You don't need a heliohost sub-domain because you have your own domain name. For people that don't have thier own domain name we provide them with a heliohost name like: Heliohost sub-domain http://byrondallas.heliohost.org Some people start out with a sub-domain like that and then later get a domain name and park it at thier cpanel. With a parked domain you can see your site by two different domain names. Parked Domain http://bybyron.uni.cc
secrets2bettergolf Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 Hi. Thanks a lot - I see it now too. It's not very good (that's another matter!) but at least it's there. Now all I have to do is work out how to make my email work ...
