BUT todays laptops are power efficient and powerful than desktop computers

eg Pentium M 2.0Ghz beating Pentium 4 3.4 Ghz

Athlon MP (also known as Athlon XP M) beats desktop processors of its time

That's true. Pentium M also consumes less power than PIV.

It consumes much less; the ideal temp of a P4 3.4Ghz is 45C but of 2Ghz Pentium M is 21C

Yes right. Luckily I got myself a P-M, I was almost about to get a Celeron M.

Celeron Ms are also more power-efficient than Celeron Ds, but the advantage of the Celeron M over Pentium M is that they are typically cheaper. But kudos on getting a Pentium M, they are no doubt the best choice. Those little kids can go and use their Athlon XP-Ms, but I'm sticking with good old Intel.
