PhoenixFlame512 Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 I found the 2800+ on newegg for 120. Im happy... But the clock speed of the AMD Athlon 2800+ is a lot slower than the clock speed you could get with an Intel CPU of the same price. Quote
awesomegamer Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 heres a small question i got, whats the best of the processors? in relation to its clock speed? Quote
PhoenixFlame512 Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 heres a small question i got, whats the best of the processors? in relation to its clock speed? Well, it depends. Like, for a desktop computer, or for a notebook computer? And at what kind of price? Quote
awesomegamer Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 desktop, around the average prices $600-$1000 Quote
PhoenixFlame512 Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 desktop, around the average prices $600-$1000 I meant like what kind of price range for the CPU. Because the overall value of some CPUs are the same due to the price range. Quote
HerLoss Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 But the clock speed of the AMD Athlon 2800+ is a lot slower than the clock speed you could get with an Intel CPU of the same price. The cheapest pentium 4 I can find is a 2.26GHz for 125.99. They dont MAKE pentium 4's with less speed than that, and I dont need a processor with that much. My 2800 with 2.08 is just 104 (checked). Big speed difference there, and the 2.28 was the same price as the pent. 4 at 125.49 Quote

awesomegamer Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 i nderstand now, its because the total price of a computer includes different things than just the CPU. so whats a fair deal on a CPU? if i got a good amount of money and all different types cost the same, which is likely to be the best? Currently, $200 should get you a 3.2-4GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor with Hyper-Threading Technology. But you might want to wait it out for a few months and take a look at the new Pentium D that's coming out. So far, Acer, Dell, and Alienware have signed up with Intel to use the Pentium Ds. Quote
praiseR Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 i think dell is good but i rather DIY!!!!!!!!! Quote
Desperro Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 Dell is kewl, best thing what i like about it is that they aer cheaper and more silent vents Quote
Ruze Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 If I had enough cash I'd definately go with Alienware computers, maybe after I get a job I'll get one....hmmm....Oh well Quote
Ali Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 I currently use a Fujitsu Lifebook (tablet PC). I once considered making my own desktop, went for a tablet pc instead. Quote
HerLoss Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 Dell and HP are both crap for the sold reason that they are hard to work with. I was trying to upgrade one and the hard drive was in the back of the case on the side. That diddnt make any sense... And it was too cramped to begin with. They dont wire for crap either. Its just one tangled mess. Quote
