IDOXLR8 Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 PHP went down again today. Check your sites for huge core files that need to be deleted. Cheers, Byron Thanks Byron, my site idoxlr8.com had a butt load of .core files. I was able to ftp in and delete them... not sure that I got them all tho... all seems to be working again... On another subject something seems to be wrong with the dns, possibly on this end... When using my isp's dns I can't reach helionet servers but, when I change dns to alternate(Opendns) I have no problems. It seems maybe helionet's host may not be working properly... (possibly?) I used http://www.dnsqueries.com and came up with errors. I need to learn more about the dns system. Any suggestions for a starting point? Thanks idoxlr8

I was able to ftp in and delete them... not sure that I got them all tho... Here's a good file search script I put together. Works in any directory and will search your entire site for files matching a particular query. Type 'core' in the file form to search for any files with the word 'core' in the file name. Just give it a .php extension. http://byrondallas.heliohost.org/scripts/php/site_search.txt When using my isp's dns I can't reach helionet servers but, when I change dns to alternate(Opendns) I have no problems. It makes for a great file finder and keeps you from having to search through all your directories for forgotten files.
Malmoth Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 On another subject something seems to be wrong with the dns, possibly on this end... When using my isp's dns I can't reach helionet servers but, when I change dns to alternate(Opendns) I have no problems. It seems maybe helionet's host may not be working properly... (possibly?) Despite my earlier remarks on another thread, I now think this is caused by the DNS on HelioNet side. Just a wild guess, but I think it's mainly because of the HelioNet server being unstable. It's possible that when HelioNet's DNS becomes unresponsive for a period of time (whether it's long or short), the domain propagates throughout the more frequently refreshing domain name servers as down.
